[ This is the best plan I have ever heard and not one pub candidate has used these ideas as a platform. The country is gone to hell.]

WRONG.. Michele Bachmann has and does..

Perry and Paul threaten (and Newt maybe) but will probably cave..
Bachmann is serious as a heart attack..

I will take a 10% pay if ALL Fed employees get one. But you are right as it stands now only veterans, military retirees and service members will take the hit. Followed by DoD employees. Obama’s pets like DHS, EPA and HUD will never be touched.

“Key initiatives include:

Repealing the president’s health care reform plan.
Eliminating four cabinet agencies: Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Commerce and Education, and reducing or privatizing the EPA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and TSA.
Ending farm subsidies, foreign aid to unfriendly nations, and student loans, or what the Tea Party report called “luxuries we can no longer afford.”
Suspending pension contributions and cost of living adjustments to lawmakers when the budget is running a deficit.
Killing all congressional earmarks.
Cut federal employee pay by 10 percent and slash employee travel to $4 billion, half of what was spent in 2000.
Make the Bush tax cuts and the alternative minimum tax permanent.”

Sounds like a WONDERFUL dream!

GET ER DONE!

I’m sticking with Herman. First, he’s not a politician. All politicians will say ANYTHING when campaigning. Second, he’s a businessman. When he sits down with the numbers, and he sees the waste in all of these federal departments, he’ll say “Get rid of ‘em”. Third, haven’t heard much from the bimbo’s lately, have we? Why? Because the bulls-eye is on someone else. Fourth, Herman Cain IS the Tea Party. Comments?

I would call this "a good start", but hardly a revolution.

I would support eliminating congressional pay & benefits and only compensating them on a per-dime basis as some legislators are.

“>I like it, but if you eliminate the Department of Energy, who handles the manufacture, testing, and disposal of our nuclear weapons?

Department of Defense?”

The labs are already run by contractors so I don’t think it really matters who’s awarding & issuing the contracts. Maybe the labs will actually start doing more defense research when the defense department is awarding and the contracts & paying the bills.

So, in keeping with the spirit of trying to restore fiscal sanity, how about these additions:....

Spin off, i.e., SELL the US Postal Department.

There can be no fundamental change in this world while fiat currency remains. I have seen on this forum a possible solution in the form of tying the worth of money to all traded commodities. Once the big collapse happens, if some bigshot proposes a world currency based on all commodities, I’ll want to tear my hair out because that is the only solution I see, but it shouldn’t be for a worldwide currency. That would just tell me that it was all planned long ago.

Carrying it out would be virtually impossible.

The constitution is a framework not a detailed plan. There is very little it expressly forbids. But that is not the problem. The problem is politicians give the people what they want. And what they wanted has produced that debt. The Peoples’ wants have to become more realistic.

Good luck.

“There is nothing the EPA does that can not be done better and cheaper by the states.”

There are problems with this approach when the regulated can influence the regulators. Example when Clinton was governor the streams of northwest Arkansas ran with Tyson chicken wastes. Clinton was Tyson’s boy, remember Red Bone and Hillary?

Another is the regulations become even more complicated, costly and unpredictable when there are 50 authorities rather than 1.

The constitution is a framework not a detailed plan. There is very little it expressly forbids.

9th Amendment: Forbids the Feds from engaging in anything not expressly granted in the Constitution itself.

10th Amendment: Reserves all government powers not expressly granted in the Constitution to the states.

What does it mean?

In Libspeak, it means you only increase the budget by 5% annually instead of 8%. To them, that's a 3% cut.

See how easy that is?

So what would you or would you not discontinue, af?

Aren’t there already DOD agents involved? Do we need both Departments, with their Directors and administrative staff, building overhead, redundancy?

Of course Herman Cain is a politician - by definition, he’s running for office, he’s done it in the past, he’s a politician.

(Perry, on the other hand, is a politician with experience actually cutting government spending and getting government workers to cut their own budgets.)

Texas cut our departments’ budgets by 10-11% in 2003, then actually cut over all spending this year, after cutting 5-10% from individual budgets.

Medical association lawyers and lobbyists were joking after 2003 that the Legislature would expect docs to take a Medicaid cuts because they (lawyers and agency bean counters) found it so easy to cut 11% from their own budgets. We explained that unlike the rest of Gov’t spending, we hadn’t had a raise in years. (and besides - Federal judges pretty much control our Medicaid spending)

“...the regulated can influence the regulators...”
-
Ha, I scoff at you.
That doesn’t happen at the federal level?...surely?...never?

I’d rather know there were 50 state mafias to deal with than the big one federal mafia.
