I'm for doing one thing at a time.

Right now we have to elect a candidate. We are all working for the most conservative one we can get.

After that comes a new step in the process. But we are nowhere near there yet.

I would have never guessed 6 months ago that Cain and Romney would be tied and Newt in third place. It shows just how much influence conservatives/The Tea Party now have in the party.

Problem with Cain: lack of foreign policy knowledge (not experience, just knowledge).

Problem with Newt: not dependable. Also had poor management skills when he was Speaker.

There are also problems with Perry, with Romney, and with the others.

None of them is perfect. Cain is certainly likable, and that is very important in a candidate. Newt would be a drag on the ticket in the general, due to his name already being demonized by the left when he was Speaker. We will hear all of the charges against him again if he rises in the polls. No doubt he is a good debater and very smart. He would be an asset as a strategist for any president.

I haven’t made up my mind yet, except that I am voting AGAINST Obama, who is a clear and present danger to the nation.

Emotion?

My big reason, the one example I cited?

Please, Miss Marple.

Romney cannot be trusted. I have faith that he will be stopped in the primaries, but if he’s not, I will not vote for him.

You are free to support and to vote for him, but I will concentrate and devote my time, my efforts and my money toward electing TEA PARTY PATRIOTS to the US SENATE & HOUSE to stop either Romney or Obama from appointing liberals, Marxists or anyone except Constitutionalists to SCOTUS and from passing liberal legislation.

I can well imagine the RINOS gleefully passing every big government piece of legilation that comes down the pike under a Romney administration.

GIVE ME A BREAK.

I’ve had it with the reach across the aisle crap.

There was a thread recently about a Southern "conservative" talk show host really down on Cain

The talk show host is from Iowa not the South. Down here no one would of batted an eye at what Cain said. I get called "darling", "sweetie", "hon" by women down here all the time

Any well mannered decent man here are use to being treated this way. Southern women are not afraid to be women.

BTW, the host who is all in a tizzy happens to be a huge Bachmann guy. Notice the HOST, not the woman in question, is the one making an issue of this.

I am just dying to hear why they start selling their memberships to people aged 50 or more. You would think they offered health insurance to 50+,those who really need a deal, or something helpful like that. Instead, they just of suck up all the gravy they can and leave the hard work for someone else to do.

Well...

Do you think ANY of the GOP candidates would fail to cut spending?

Romney would.

Do you think any of the GOP candidates would appoint a pro-choice Supreme Court justice?

Romney would.

I have seldom seen a sitting governor of any state that far left.

Herman Cain was a candidate a couple weeks ago. Now, he’s a CAUSE.

You are right that he is now a CAUSE. I would add that for people who like him he is a DOUBLE CAUSE.

I like him and I know you don't, but I hope you can take some pleasure in the SECONDARY cause which is the further devastation of the Marxist Media and the Establishment Political Class and their power.

I get a two-fer if he wins the whole thing. I get to pick my own candidate instead of being crushed by enemies of my country, and I see the real beginning of victory over those MSM/Political Class enemies.

BTW I would vote for your guy (I know it's not Romney) if necessary and take a partial victory on the second issue.

Fine.

Four years ago a great many people supported Romney, and were disappointed when McCain took the nomination. I sucked it in and voted for McCain, because I KNEW Obama was dangerous.

So, here we are, and now you, a former McCain supporter, who expected everyone to vote for YOUR guy 4 years ago, cannot bring yourself to support another candidate.

Well, good luck with that. If all of the Rockefeller/Ford wing of the party had stayed home in 1980, we would have had another Jimmy Carter term.

I fail to see why stamping one’s foot and insisting on getting one’s way “or else” is productive to SAVING THIS COUNTRY AND GETTING RID OF OBAMA.

But that’s just me.

That is the thing I have always admired about you. Your ability to be open minded and give all sides fair consideration.

We have had this conversation months ago about how a GOP candidate would be wise to make their case FOR themselves, not just make a case against the other candidates.

I think part of the reason I like Cain and Newt stems from the fact that both, except for some missteps by Cain, have focused on making a case for themselves, not just thrown punches at the other candidates.

Nope. Not buying it. Romney would not even attempt either of those, with the numbers of Tea Party people elected this past year or the ones that will be coming on board in 2012.

That is exactly right. Both of them did themselves a lot of good with that debate last night. I can ven forgive Newt for sniping at Bush while on Fox and sitting on that sofa with Pelosi.

I guess my main worry about Cain is that I still don’t know enough about him. And I really worry about foreign policy, which (along with national defense) is my number one issue.

My main like of Governor Perry is that he despises Oama and is not afraid to go after him.

So, we will see. My primary is not until the first week in May, and usually the GOP candidate is already chosen.

We have a long way to go and you just can’t predict how things will turn out. So, my prayers go out for all of the candidates, and that God will show us which is the leader we need.

You don't have to buy it, he's already proven that. He's an unprincipled, two-faced, "bipartisan" opportunist that will go with whatever direction the political wind blows. (but I repeat myself)

And that's all he's got. That appeals to you?

We have a progressive political whore up here in Portland Maine running for Mayor. The Republicans bought him.

Now he's all "pro-business/jobs".

He’s not my favorite. In fact, I think of him as Candidate “Blah.”

However, I KNOW what slime Obama and his people are. Frankly, my choice is either Perry, Cain, or long-shot Santorum. But again and I repeat, I will vote for whoever the GOP nominee is.

That is the other thing I do like about Newt. He is goes after 0 hard. Even last night he hit 0bama repeatedly.

But like you, that trust factor with Newt just refuses to go away for me.

The Ruskies did something similar with mobile launchers. Problem for the Pakis is their nukes after to get to an airfield to be used. Their deliver systems are pretty close to where ours were in 1950.

A group of people, mostly recent vets from our military, go around to events and portray individual outstanding Buffalo Soldiers to commemorate this bit of history.

They took quite a bit of time explaining it to me and we stayed to see the show. It was very impressive and moving, including the story of one woman who lived with and fought alongside the men until she was injured and they learned she wasn't a man.

I was most impressed with the patriotism of these young black people, many of whom had served in various countries including Islamic countries.

Those experiences made them aware of just how good our country is despite the terrible injustices of the past. One woman told me how glad she is whenever she sees our flag because of experiencing what you get elsewhere.

Thanks for the post.
