I agree with Huntsman in his attempt to minimize the fallout “He’s the only one who can answer the charges against him,” and that too much “bandwidth” has been spent on the allegations and that it was important to start talking about “the issues that really do matter.”

He comes off looking presidential and above the fray while Cain is rolling in the mud doing a perfectly fine job of destroying himself.

Hell I’d vote for Romney over Obama, if for no other reason than to keep that snake out of the WH. I dont think Cain quite has the pull to get the GOP nod. Hope I am wrong however.

” What’s this “walks back Perry accusations”. What a weird choice of words. I didn’t even know what that meant. “

Walk back is a political term for taking back something originally
said that has caused controversy.
Like a do over without apologizing.
Block said on Wednesday that he was absolutely positive
that it was Anderson , now with the Perry campaign in some fashion,
who had tipped Politico.
Anderson repeatedly denied this.
Thursday, Block “ walked back “ his accusation of Wednesday
and said he would now take Anderson
at his word that he wasn’t involved.

I agree too. I wonder what the solution is? Something has definitely changed in the atmosphere here.

Tilting at windmills seems to be my lot in life. I keep trying to get across the idea that if a person appears to be insulting you, don’t respond. It takes two to spoil a thread with an endless diatribe back and forth. How important can it be to get all bent out of shape because some nitwit calls you a weenie? What difference will it make 100 years from now? If we could keep it cool the conversation would be more civilized. State your case and allow others to state theirs. And that’s all I got to say about that.

The Cain camp now knows they are upfront and on top. Time to TCB.

...common decency on FR isn’t really all that common these days.

Boy howdy, ain't that the truth!

LOL—yeah, I’ve been called some names, and one woman even suggested southerners in general, and Texans in particular, are ignorant knuckle-draggers (unlike the enlightened folk in her NJ area). I’ve seen freepers turn on one another like this.

Ugh.. I know who you mean. That one is mean-spirited and so pretentious.

We call that type of behavior "Texas Envy." :-)

Except:

Your basic premise is completely off: Anderson worked on the Senate Campaign in 2003, 2004 and Wilson worked for NRA in the ‘90’s.

Furthermore, Cain said he couldn’t remember specifics, but now he remembers a long conversation with Anderson in 2003 that no one else was privy to. (Including, according to Anderson, Anderson himself).

>>But more importantly, Cain was not aware that China has nukes.(And don’t think the libs won’t use this in any future political campaign ads).

Horseapples.

See my previous.

I’m fairly certain China is the only country currently developing new nuclear weapons and delivery system.

Being a big tent Republican may not be in fashion today, but it is pretty unbelievable that some people think harassment and name calling is the way to win elections. All it is going to do further vilify the TP/evangelicals and drive general voters to become unaffiliated or Democrats.

The old “Don’t feed the trolls” method used to work, but on the other hand, the trolls these days roam the threads in bands and spam every thread. Even if no one answers, the threads are pretty much trashed.

And then there’s the issue of the spam not always being true. I’ve seen some of the most incredible lies being posted, as if the old liberal ploy of “if a lie is told often enough, it becomes the truth” were being employed by, of all people, conservatives. I do think these need to be countered, if only by a simple “Please provide the source” post. (And usually those are met by silence.)

Seen any posts lately by Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, or other on-air or published folks who once held FR in high regard? Sadly, lots of really fine freepers are keeping their distance in one way or another.

No. Take a look at my signup date. I’ve been here for a lot of primary seasons, including some before I actually signed up. No, this one is different. Flame-war-o-rama.

I think what needs to be done is to work to return FR to what it was back when it was a serious research and activism site.

There was a time when, if someone made a claim, others demanded proof of it. That’s how Dan Rather got exposed for the fraud he is, and how many of the fake “Vietnam Vets” were exposed as having never even been in the military, let alone Vietnam. If you ask for sources, if you then research the sources, and the claim turns out to be false, you can always hit them with the truth and the documentation that goes with it.

But the current practice of “You’re guy’s a twit” “Is not” “Is so” “Is not either” “Is so and you’re a jerk” “Yeah, and you’re a liar and a troll and a &*$#@!!” isn’t really looking all that adult—or conservative.

I know. I’m stubborn too. There aren’t as many great people as there once were, but there are still a lot. And, I’ve been here so long I hate to give up on the place now! But since some people are speaking out, if there are enough of us, maybe things will begin to change for the better.

Unfortunately, this Forum is not even a shred of it's former self. Ever since the great Giuliani Purge, the tone became one of stark, single minded rhetoric. Anyone who had a different opinion than the status quot, were maliciously singled out.

Sorry for the realistic assessment, but it has become all too obvious and cannot be easily reversed.
