I think the headline using the word "spite" is unfair. It really doesn't matter why she released the tape - it exists and he beat and verbally assaulted his child. It is still my opinion he did this often because the girl seemed to know to hush immediately. No one could take a beating like that and not continue to cry unless they were conditioned to suck it up and "take it like an adult".

Her Mother is making excuses for her complicity in that kind of abuse.

I’d have a lot of spite too if that was me. I think the fact it was released after the apparent statute of limitations tends says she took it relatively easy on him. He’ll likely lose his job as a judge, but that’s getting off light compared to what I’d have done. However, I’m very vindictive on certain matters.

If my child illegally downloaded music and games (again and again) that I could be sued for in amounts upwards of $400,000, I might still be beating her.

Well, bully for you, but do you think that was really his concern?

This was seven years ago. At the time, the whole downloading thingy was a blank area on the map with the notation "Here Be Dragones (possibly)". No one, not even a jerkwater Judge Roy Bean knew what the outcome would be.

He did it because he is a sociopath whose Athoritah had been Disrespected.

The judge said there’s a story that will come out explaining his angry. the situation (which he later apologized for).

That said, IMO, he was a little out of control.

In which case, she would have probably suffered abuse and the daughter would have suffered worse.

An abuser will go after anything most dear to his victim’s heart. Remember always that victims of domestic violence are living in a world that is an “alternate reality.” You sometimes have to live in that world, rather than the one you’d rather be in.

She was downloading music to her PC.

Funny how dad left that out of his explanation. Sounded like she was stealing cigarettes, or cars, or uranium, or something like that.

That is interesting. At 16 other forms of “discipline” should have been used but if the statement is right this girl just forced her dad to lose his job which will have the the effect of cutting off her financial support. But then she might make much more on the story.

Shoot I can’t afford a Mercedes for myself let alone our kids. She should be smart enough to not cut off the hand that feeds her.

"The father and others said the girl was a juvenile delinquent . She was stealing."

That is what I would expect him to say, but all she did was download some stuff from the internet that she didn't pay for. How many of us have done that? I have. I can't cast the first stone.

I suspect lots of abused kids are going to start filming the abuse and uploading it. I predict this is going to have a major impact on our society.
