There’s no such thing as blind faith. India has had more than one tiff with the Russians on quality and delays of weapons exports. The bigger issue is of availability-who is willing to offer more technology to you.

Yes but we are talking about India.... not Europe, NATO, or former Soviet Republics wannabe NATO. The Russians wont dare deny India ANYTHING. Much of Russian military industrial complex is surviving on Indian money. India is their single largest customer they don't want to eff with.

India was always # 1 most trusted Russian partner since middle Cold War. Indians has operated Soviet nuclear sub in 80s, they are about to lease another one right now.
Not even Britain or Israel has an opportunity to use US techlology like that as an allies of America.
Since late 1960s Russians are thinking the new World War with a China as an agressor is inevitable and they view India as a single natural ally in this conflict.
