I have enjoyed several trips to NYC but would be hesitant to go there now. Yep, Guiliani turned Tiimes Square from a squalid, dangerous place to a tourist centerpiece. Amazing what one man can do when he is not afraid of criticism.

“Car 54” was a TV comedy series on Sunday nights in the early sixties, about two mismatched policemen who stumbled through their duties. Fred Gwynne (who later played Herman Munster)was one of the cops.
It was from a far simpler time.

BTW, NYC is still the safest large American city, by far. The murder rate here is well below the District of Columbia, Chicago, and other fine Democrat garden spots. Interestingly, all these cities have strict anti-gun laws...proving the damn laws have no value.
I’d be willing to bet that if you plotted the location of the shootings, the race of the shooter (if known), and the race of the victim, there would be some pretty glaring correlations that might be drawn. Of course, rather than actually do any work, the media would just rather wring its hands.
