As bad as the poll numbers might get, here’s the brutal truth:
1. There’s about 40% of the electorate who will vote for Obama or (insert name of any Democrat here). The GOP should quit deluding themselves that at any point in the next ‘n’ election cycles that a majority of blacks/hispanics/jews/gays/single-women-with-child are going to vote GOP.
At best case, these voters get discouraged and stay home.
2. None of the GOP candidates other than McCotter have anything resembling an economic plan. McCotter is pulling less than 1% in polling.
3. The front runners of the GOP are mouthing their same tired old stuff to appeal to the factions of the GOP base: God, gays, guns. Here’s the brutal truth: None of that matters now. Jobs matter most, the economy matters most, the debt level matters most. Everything else should be de-emphasized. Answer questions on the God/gays/guns issue if asked, and then get back to pounding on the jobs issue.
But none of the candidates, other than McCotter, even have an “oh, and by the way... here’s my specific plan on how to deal with our jobs issue.”
The failure to articulate a specific plan for job creation is a formula for losing.
Time for an elephant revival in PA!
