I can pretty much guarantee that if Perry were a congressman he would not have done many of the things (Guardasil, TTC, etc) that people point to as proof he is a RINO. Since Bachmann has no record as an executive, she has no negative executive record that can be pointed to. I predict you will see more compromise from her if she ever represents more than a good sized town’s worth of people. For comparison, Bachmann had to get a majority of 600K of a fairly homogenous (95% White) population in an area the size of some Texas counties to vote for her to be re-elected. Perry had to get a majority of 25 million people from widely diverse social and economic backgrounds in a state larger than most countries to vote for him to be re-elected. The more people from different backgrounds that a legislator or executive represents, the more they have to do stuff they may not be entirely happy with. How many governors of large population states, are what most conservatives would call a real, down the line conservative? I can’t think of many and there is a reason for that. How many Presidents since WW2 were real conservatives? I can think of one, and he signed an immigration amnesty while he was in office. I think that is the explanation why many congressmen can act more conservative than the governors of large, diverse states or Presidents.

” I hear ya. Rick Perry proved he was a political opportunist when he became the only Republican governor to endorse pro-abortion Rudy Giuliani for president. Bear in mind, that at the time of his endorsement of Giuliani, there was a mass culling of Rudy supporters here at FR. Logic dictates that Perry himself would not have been welcome here. Either his supporters have a very short memory or they just don’t care how liberal the man is. Conservatives should and do. “

REPEATED FOR ALL TO READ!

Perry has no “crossover appeal”. America’s already seen that movie, and we know how it ends.

Note to the GOP Establishment:

Quit trying to couch unprincipled RINO’s as “electable”. The rest of the US doesn’t want any more to do with them than conservatives. When actual conservatives with conservative records run on conservative principles, they win.

Perry polls worse among independents than Bachmann.

Perry has already said re; some of the more rabid evangelists, that he can’t help who says they support him, and it doesn’t mean he supports them.

I’ll vote for somebody who can pull his pistol out and waste a coyote trying to eat his kid’s dog.

And when he did that, it inspired Sturm Ruger to produce the lcp-tex .380, thus helping Arizona jobs. The slides were engraved with a coyote howling at the moon, a Texas Star, The words "A True Texan", and "Coyote Special". This provided work for the engraving company in Connecticut.

When I saw that Democratic Puke, er Congressman, Charlie Gonzales saying Perry only knew how to help the Texas economy, not other states, I thought, "heck, by shooting a crapppy coyote, he's already helped the economy in two other states."

Did you know the president of the Heritage Foundation once said the GOP would have a difficult time because Ronald Reagan betrayed the American people, walked away from them in the end? Yep – that’s exactly what the Heritage Foundation said about Ronald Reagan.
John McCain and George W. Bush should be honored to be in such august company as Ronald Reagan.
Why?
While Reagan was President, contrary to the lies that are being told today by Richard Viguerie and Viguerie and fellow conservative leaders Howard Phillips and Paul Weyrich did their very best to undermine and bully him.
Now though, they protray themselves as the pure conservative, and are little more than rabble rousers, shrouding themselves with non-Republican conservatives who are about as well acquainted with history as Barack Obama.
If they knew the history of the GOP they would understand the PURE conservative is no friend. All these people are out to do is improve their position in the world and nothing more.
To paraphrase a famous saying, the moron who does not know history is doomed to repeat it. I’m not calling our suicide bomber conservatives morons, but you’re sure as heck acting like it. What I have below is proven historical record. The bottom line – you are being manipulated. Fool me once, shame on you – fool me twice, shame on me!

// The author goes on to cite all the criticism Reagan got from the “Real Conservatives” of his time

Sound familiar? It ought to////

Ok you are right.... you ARE too dense to understand any of this .... Go ahead and let people lead you around by your nose ring . You can hate Bush, hate Perry, hate whoever you want, ( The left sold you the hate and you bought it) Someone says “they are a Rino” and you can start mooing your hatred, But remember they said the exact same thing about Reagan (that is my point) and if you had been there acting the way you do now you would be hating Reagan along with them.
It took a few years for the haters on the right to join the club that loved him, (They were outnumbered) Now for Gods sake dont start thinking as it will probably cause an aneurism or something

No one called Reagan a RINO. Reagan gave speeches against ‘RINOs’ the GOP good-ole-boys and spendthrifts.

Stick with principles not with politicians.
