Yes, I know that. I thought the second long post was reposted from the original above so we can click on the links instead of copying and pasting (that’s what I meant by repost) but I guess what you’re saying is that the second part is different. Anyways thanks for all the information.

Perry reminds me of Huckabee so far, and Huckabee stayed in long enough to net McCain as the Republican nominee, for whatever that’s worth now.

I doubt anyone would be able to get a full deportation through congress but there are a lot of methods to strongly encourage them to leave on their own.

There are at least 30 million illegals in America and that is enough to fully populate more than 50 congressional districts. That’s the population of Michigan Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Anybody think we can afford to screw around with this issue for another decade?

“Are you a Ron Paul supporter?”

No, he’s a NUTCASE, and so is his kid (although not quite as much). My problem is that they think a balanced budget is more important than maintaining a national defense. Sorry, but defense first for me, always.

“Woo-Hoo! New record. You got spammed within 5 minutes of your posting! Never mind trying to read or link to your information. “

No kidding, his people must be watching the posts come in 24/7 and ready to pounce IMMEDIATELY.

I’ve got a life and, to be honest, would rather discuss issues besides this primary season. But, once again, Governor Perry pulls me in - so I’m here.

LOL, the pixels hadn’t even dried from my post before that one was up. All is forgiven.

Even at that Romney’s looking like real dork this year. Back in 2008, I voted for Romney. This year we have a LOT MORE to choose from and Romney is off in left-wing land, as far as I’m concerned.

“If you demand perfection you will get Obama. Sarah’s got faults. Perry’s got faults. I’ll forgive them all.”

That's true. We can only vote for the best we have. But the good news is, we can gain control and increase control of Congress to make it even closer to perfect.

Example, right now we have a President who would have loved to bring us Amnesty but those we worked so hard putting in Congress are helping that not become reality. He'd also love to raise taxes big time, but those we have in Congress will not make it easy. Well, we need to make it even harder for him in 2012 (in case he wins again).

And if he loses, great! By winning more gains in Congress we helped make whatever imperfect candidate we put in the WH a little closer to perfect.

I LOVE America and I believe in our political sytem (when dems don't cheat).

Agree. No real need to deport these people. If they can’t get jobs, can’t get medical, can’t get food stamps, can’t walk without looking over their shoulder for police...they’ll get the message, and we won’t have to do a thing to push them.

...but not here in Texas. THEY ARE WELCOME IN TEXAS !!!

Good post Bob. I'm sure you expected to get attacked as an Obama supporter. When confronted with Perry's shortcomings, the Perry crowd has nothing else.

I won't vote for Perry for the following reasons...

Rick Perry was Al Gore’s Texas campaign manager
Rick Perry endorsed pro-abortion candidate Rudy Giuliani for president in 2007
Rick Perry is responsible for Texas’ version of the Dream Act
Rick Perry opposed the border fence
Rick Perry opposed SB 1070, Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law
Rick Perry opposed Obama’s stimulus plan but took billions in stimulus money to balance the Texas budget
Rick Perry said he was ok with NY’s gay marriage law
Rick Perry was hand-picked by Karl Rove and is an establishment Republican
Rick Perry is no conservative

You’re welcome, I just up the Perry stuff last night, to make it easy to find. Next week, I’ll put some of the other topics that didn’t occur to me last night, but are being discussed (by accident in some cases) right now.

Thanks. In his 10 years as my governor, I’ve barely heard him speak...so I don’t know either way on that.

you forgot to mention that the budget of the state of TX doubled under Perry and that the “lawsuit” reform was a tweek of GWB work in the 1990s. Oh and you forgot to mention that he loves giving Tax Payer money to businesses - maybe that is why our budget doubled. Perry is no conservative- he is all RINO.

Yes...as a Texan, I realize Perry has his ‘faults’.

If he is our nominee, I will vote for him.

“There were several hints that he was persuaded to do so. He gives the impression of someone without a deep set of convictions, or of being someone who is trying to conceal his true convictions.”

Actually, I got the exact opposite impression. This is someone who DOESN’T want to be president, but who gradually realized that his country desperately needs him right now. This is EXACTLY the kind of candidate we need: a deeply principled man who reluctantly realizes that his country needs him.

Read up on the story of Cincinnatus, the general from the old Roman republic. That is the kind of leader that I think we desperately need right now.
