Cooper in fact dictated an altitude of 10,000 ft and flaps at 15 degrees which the pilots complied with”

“Dan Cooper” was the hero of a 1950s French language comic strip based on a fictional Canadian pilot.
Investigators knew about that comic at the time and suspected that the hijacker could have taken his name from it- and that might actually have discouraged them from looking for actual Coopers.
The niece of LD Cooper says that her uncle had this comic pinned on his wall.
