Written by a half-wit scientist-pretend-to-be.

From the article:

The new study was carried out by independent doctors at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at the University of Sherbrooke Hospital Centre in Quebec, Canada.

And what is your expert opinion of those who performed the study? (And what are your credentials?)

A well written and reasoned response. Thanks. People should just check it out for themselves.

RnMomof7 - agree, you’re not dumb.

How does modifying a gene create toxins?

See posts #28 and #32. :-)

Much of the info was from an article by M. Pearl in a NGJ magazine and from the book Seeds of Deception by J. M. Smith. :-)

The arguments center around whether or not the substances the GM strains produce, or the level of such substances that GM strains produce, are harmful to humans or not.

Not according to this article.

To date the industry has always argued that if these toxins were eaten by animals or humans they would be destroyed in the gut and pass out of the body, thus causing no harm.

Whether there are harmful levels, and a contention that the toxins are destroyed in the gut are two different arguments.

It is my contention that everything we eat is genetically modified and has been since the first time they crossbred plants and selectively bred animals to change traits in offspring, and it is not possible to NOT consume food that is not the byproduct of genetic modification.

Ask Czar Sunstein, Erhlichs, Silverman, and the other Harvard professors on over-population. Why is Soros, UN NGO’s... pushing birth control and abortion clinics globally, and of course with our money. Am I a conspiracy theorist, perhaps, thereagain perhaps not...perhaps we’re being conspired against. All I’m saying is to check it out for yourself. A lot of these people are crazy in the head and don’t think like regular people.

It's Bt toxin, http://homeharvest.com/bt.htm which has been used for about 70 years and is approved as an ORGANIC pesticide.

ROFLMAO, we're all gonna diiiiee!

Thanks for your honesty, much of mine from OP as well. It’s not unlike climate change, we’ve got to depend on scientists with commonsense - those with no axe to grind, i.e., big grant money or other agendas. :)

Hey there folks; every chemical that kills insects does not also harm humans.

What no one ever says in any of these “science” articles is that many vegetable toxins are actually beneficial to humans. Many of the anti-oxidants touted by health gurus are actually toxins that plants produce to discourage insects from consuming the plant.

Caffeen being probably the most frequently consumed by humans is an insecticide produced by the coffee and cocoa plant to discourage the consumption of their seeds.

Tannins produced by grapes are insecticides meant to discourage their consumption yet these same chemicals we are told prevent cancer.

But the scare mongers are always prepared to tell us every new step down the path of progress is a step closer to our doom.

I think that the human body is much more resilient than these would be scientist believe. Come up with some real evidence that these chemical cause harm to humans in the amounts found or shut up. I don’t want some study on mice being fed 10,000 % more than any human could ever consume and then developing cancer leading a banned process.

Everything in the food chain is directly, or the byproduct of genetic modification - either microscopically, or, macroscopically via hybrids & selective breeding. The only way to avoid eating genetically modified food is to die.

And here is the real argument, whether or not there should be mandatory labeling of GM food products. Of course, companies using and selling GM foods oppose such labeling. Consumer groups favor it, and people who want to know what is in the food they are eating also favor it, but our bought and paid for Congress has not yet enacted laws requiring labeling of GM foods. And there are other labeling laws other industries oppose successfully.

The number one cause of death is birth. Statistically, with two historical exceptions and 7 billion pending cases, birth has a 100% mortality rate.

Birth has already happened to me; I’m doomed, and not a thing I can do about it.

Therefore:

I refuse to spend any amount of time worrying about how my cheezy mac is gonna kill me.

I’m with you on that obvious bit of logic. Problem with people nowadays is that they don’t know jack about growing food, farming or the history of human food production.

I get a kick out of the Darwinists especially when they squeal about GM foods and DNA. If we’re all descended from the same primordial pool of glop then playing mix and match genes to improve performance is no problem as we are all genetically related anyway, not like it’s alien dna from outer space.

These people have so much cognitive dissonance in their heads it’s a wonder they don’t explode like chinese watermelons.

and is approved as an ORGANIC pesticide.

You just might. Being approved for organic farming means next to nothing about whether it is harmful to humans. But have a nice helping of rotenone and copper fungicides, also approved for organic uses. But also be ready for quick trip to your nearest toxic substance treatment facility.

Probably the most common reason a pesticide or fungicide is approved for organic farming is that it degrades and becomes harmless in the environment within a reasonable time, NOT that it is necessarily harmless to humans.

“I wish they’d identify the particular toxin or chemical that is proving harmful to humans (if it is).”

Check out the article at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacillus_thuringiensis

I believe they are talking about corn that has been modified with the gene that produces a natural insecticide (toxin) found in the bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis (BT). We have been safely using BT itself as a natural insecticide for many decades. This is probably much todo about nothing.
