Aside from the fact that he's unknown for the most part, he would just be branded "an Uncle Tom" by those same folks mentioned above.
We can't make our decision for our candidate based on what we think the left will call him/her. Does the left worry about what the right will call their candidate? The left: "Oh, the right will call him a Marxist/Socialist, etc, so we had better not vote for him in our primaries!"
No, we must select our candidate based on a determination of who can best articulate the principles and values of constitutional conservatism (with a pointed emphasis on fiscal conservatism), and one who we believe will govern as a conservative (in both word and deed) if elected.
Sure, there are other "political" calculations (he can carry these larger states and their electoral votes, etc), but perhaps the last thing on our list of reasons to support one over the other would be a fear of what the opposition will call him/her.

Trump would split the GOP/conservative vote, and re-elect Obama You mean the GOP/ conservative vote would split, some voting for Trump and some voting for Obama? If that's true, we do need a third party.

What is scary is that 35% of republicans would vote for Obama over Trump? “ ==========================
I would count that as the abundant number of RINOS in our party. Not to worry. We Trump supporters are not permanent, but appreciating him as the ONLY mouthpiece able to rattle the WON, the RINOs and the media has been an irresistable conbination and a fun ride.

If those are the choices, I will welcome the Mayan version of 2012.
The losers get decapitated? The Mayan version sounds interesting

The wording says that 65% would prefer Trump over Obama, but does not say that they would vote Obama instead. The other 35% could be in the someone else column, but they make you assume they would vote Obama. Looks deceptive to me.
The author seems bias against Trump The wording says only 65%...

>>>However, if anyone can overcome negatives with the public, its The Donald.<<<
Trump is the ultimate "strategrist" [Thanks Pres. Bush]
I believe Donald has a bunch of facts about Obama in his hip pocket. It's not just "birther" stuff. He consistently refers - obliquely - to Barack's relationships with Resko [sp], Ayers, foreign governments, illegal fund raising. Now is not the time to reveal what he has - it's all about hole cards!
Trump certainly has the means to mount a first class investigative effort. More importantly - he has connections - prominent business figures for one!! I wouldn't be suprised if he has some volunteer assistance from folks like the Mossad, the Saudi's, the Brit's.
It will be very interesting to see when he elects to start playing his cards. I'm still on the fence as far as his chances - but Donald is nothing if not Formidible - far more capable than the others running on the right!!

I refuse to believe that 49% of this county would vote for Obama, over any candidate. If true, there is no hope for the Republic.

“The GOP will get trounced in 2012 if they do not make Obama Eligibility a leading issue”
Michelle Bachman said that if she enters the presidential race, she will wave her birth certificate at the first televised debates between the candidates.
It’s getting traction.
Cain-West would be a wicked ticket, but a wiser Freeper reminded me that Martin Luther King today wouldn’t get 20% of the Black vote against Obama.

Rasmussen needs to do a poll with a head to head matchup. Trump vs Soetoro and no other choices. See what comes up. Or Palin head to head and so on.
