"Senate Republicans are going to support raising the debt ceiling and raising taxes all while refusing to demand passage of a Balanced Budget Amendment. House Republican Leaders will no doubt decide that . . . well . . . Republicans only control one house of one branch of government so . . . ."

Bring this up over and over.

Chambliss barely got reelected last time (a sitting senator, and he ended up in a runoff), because of these kinds of shenannigans.
For about two years Chambliss toed the conservative line, now this.
He won’t be reelected again.

Throw everyone of them out on their ear if they support tax increases and don't support tax decreases.
Amazingly, many people don't understand that voting for someone who raises your taxes is like hiring somebody who you know will demote you. Why would anybody do such a thing?
The issue is GOVERNMENT needs to learn to stay within its means and balance its checkbook like everybody else. The American people should not stand for a minute the idea of bearing the burden for government idiocy like "stimulus" and "no child left behind" on and on...
CUT TAXES and CUT GOVERNMENT EVEN MORE.

Looks like cutting the debt rating will have an effect...Higher taxes...the GOP has to many rinos..all you need in the senate is seven to vote for higher taxes..Two from Georgia .. Two from Maine...and the other rinos no problem..

We’ll just see about that...the primary source for this is the NY Slimes. We’ll see.

So if we no longer have a mortgage interest deduction or a property tax deduction we will be "equal" with the Section 8 housing folks - we may as well be renters.

Senate Republicans will agree not just to ending all deductions and credits in the tax code and lowering the tax rate while expanding the base Ending all tax credits? How about subsidies? I could live with elimination of all deductions, tax credits and subsidies coupled with lower nominal rates. We need more individual payers with skin in the game and we need government to quit manipulating markets with subsidies.

Yep, unfortunately. Our only hope is for Boehner to toe the line in the House. (*Gulp*)

I don't even bother emailing or writing him anymore. The wife has a drawer full of letters from his office politely telling her to sit down and shut up.
Chambliss needs to learn two big things:
1) YOU FIRST. Congress got us in this mess. If you think we need to cut spending and raise taxes then cut first. You need to show us that you are at least a trillion a year serious before asking us to shoulder more.
2) TAXES RATES AND REVENUE ARE NOT THE SAME THING. In fact, they are generally diametrical. if you want increased revenue, lower taxes. If you want to lower revenue, raise taxes. If what is stated in the article is your position why did you vote to extend the tax rates?

Yep.
And that should also *really* help the housing market. (/heavy sarcasm)

The local GOP county leaders should sanction him. Embarrass him, and call for his resignation.
