'Legal weed ruined my life'

Boo HOO!

I'm such an idiot, words on a piece of paper would have made me a better person.

These fools should be ashamed of themselves.

That's a little much.

We do need to overturn Wickard v Filburn, and get the fedgov domestic drug war shut down. If the people and the States want that to be an enumerated power, they can enumerate it.

Right now constitutional basis of the DEA authority is every bit as sound as the EPA.

Illegal weed ruined the lives of many of my high-school classmates.

It made them passive and lethargic, not willing to pursue an education or a career. Those guys are now waiting tables and driving cabs as they still get high every day and are pushing 50.

To the best of my knowledge, pot is not addictive. I never tried the stuff. Is Kronic addictive?

There is a physiological addiction and there is a mental addiction. Alcohol is physiologically addictive. Gambling is mentally addictive.

Is this guy just weak in the head?

Other Legal ‘things’ that can ruin your life:

1) Junk Food- Obesity
2) Motorcycle without a helmet
3) Dropping out of high school
4) unprotected sex
5) constant video games
6) scratch off lottery tickets
7) blowing ones paycheck on lap dances
8) not brushing your teeth
9) not exercising
10) not voting

Point is, many of get tired of people blaming everything but themselves for a ruined life.

For the record, I am against legalization but ‘pot’ will never disappear where their is a demand.

Pot was MUCH easier to give up than cigarettes in my earlier life.

There’s nothing good that can come of the government legislating what you can do with your own body, for starters. If you give up the right of self-determination, slavery isn’t far behind.

Just imagine if it was illegal too. Not only would he still be stupid, but he’d be jailed, raided, dogs shot, kids shot, grandparents shot, and broke (even more broke).

Libertarians are simply wrong on issues of drugs being legalized. Actually, they are off base on many of their positions. They seem to ignore God and that is their downfall philosophically.

Wow! What Bible have you been reading? Christ died for our LIBERTY! He set us FREE from the LAW of sin and death. HE turned water into wine at a wedding feast WHERE THE PARTICIPANTS WRE CLEARLY DRUNK.

The foundations of America were freedom and liberty. Try studing a little more and you may become enlightened to many truths. It is antithetical to freedom to place arbitrary limits on anything such as a little weed. God gives us a choice for LIFE or DEATH. He didn't make robots. He gave us the opportunity to FAIL. It is when we realize our failures that we turn back to Him!!!

... Mark 7:6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:

“‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
7 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’

8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe[c] your own traditions! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’[d] and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’[e] 11 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)— 12 then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”

14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15 Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.”

17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Yes, when people get so high on God that they insist that us common mortals not imbibe from the fermented grape or the grain - it seems they would have HIM turn wine back into water.

Justification of the nanny state in the name of the Lord takes many manifestations - all of them facile - I think the argument for alcohol prohibition more-so than others.

We made alcohol illegal once already (and it required a conditional amendment to do it) it was an unmitigated disaster. It gave rise to a criminal class the likes of which we had never seen before. It created more damage to people that acquired it illegally because it's pretty hard to go after a criminal that was selling bad alcohol. Not only that but the people that drank to excess still drank to excess. A basic knowledge of history would demonstrate to a school child that making alcohol illegal again would only create more problems. No problems you mention would be alleviated by making it illegal.

I do not see the constitutional authority for the government to ban any substance. That being said, people need to be responsible for their actions and with our welfare system we would end up paying people to take drugs. I would think that is a bad idea.

Are you is Australia and trying to persuade Americans to subscribe to your nonsense? This is the second posting I have noticed where you try to persuade others with your personal diatribes.

Pot is harmless. This article is not about marijuana (pot). Authoritarians, SUCH AS YOU, are not!

Go peddle your snake oil in your homeland...

Something I read recently that, to me, touches upon this point -

“At one time Mr. (Frederick) Douglass was traveling in the state of Pennsylvania, and was forced, on account of his colour, to ride in the baggage-car, in spite of the fact that he had paid the same price for his passage that the other passengers had paid. When some of the white passengers went into the baggage-car to console Mr. Douglass, and one of them said to him: “I am sorry, Mr. Douglass, that you have been degraded in this manner,” Mr. Douglass straightened himself up on the box upon which he was sitting and replied: “They cannot degrade Frederick Douglass. The soul that is in me no man can degrade. I am not the one that is being degraded on account of this treatment, but those who are inflicting it upon me.”” Booker T. Washington “Up From Slavery”

People drunk at a wedding? What's the world coming to when people will imbibe of alcohol at the joining of two souls.

Next you'll be telling me that people danced and eventually the bride and groom had sex.

Fun at a wedding. I don't understand it.

You should be able to grow it like a tomato in your garden. You should be able to grow opium poppies in your flower bed if you want to... I don’t...

Actually, I thought it was legal to grow opium poppies in your garden. You can buy dried ones from any flower store and people make tea out of them. Now, if the feds see you trying to process your poppies, then, I think, you're out of luck.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about growing them.
