See you around, pillut. Hopefully next time you'll be calmer and we can talk rationally. This is an important subject and emotionalism doesn't help make sense of it all.
I have been calm, FRiend, and haven’t resorted to emotionalism and name calling (or threats of violence from your child). Please reread my analogy a few posts before this one. For clarification, please remember these important things while reading the analogy:
1) YOU = Pastor Terry Jones
2) ME = Religion of Peace Run Amok
3) RUNNING OVER KIDS AT PARK = MUSLIMS KILLING UN FOLKS, AMONG OTHERS 4) MAYOR = Obama
5) POLICE CHIEF = Petraeus
6) COUNTY COMMISSIONER = Graham, Reid et al
“...but denies everything else about Westboro beliefs and actions. To say Jones is a Phelps follower is incorrect.”
Did they retract the support for protesting funerals? The only thing I have found is from this thread on FR:
I take it the dove outreach center marched with the Westboro loons, although I gather they disaproved of some of their methods. I couldnt find out what methods they actually disaprove of.

What one of the leaders of Jones Dove Outreach Center has to say about the Westboro loons:
Westboro Baptist is not anti-military or anti-USA. Rather the opposite, actually. Do some research. They go to funerals because the Bible says that a fallen soldier is a sign of Gods wrath and a reminder of the condition of this world, a fallen world, in sin. We all know that. None of us want to fight wars. We have to, and we honor the fallen for their sacrifice, but funerals are also a chance to repent and get our lives right with God before our own comes along.
The soldier who is already dead knows whats coming, whether they are in heaven or hell. I think they would be glad for the extra reminder to loved ones that they still have time to make a choice and use the rest of their time given here for God rather than wasting it, in a spiritual sense.
It’s hard to sort through all the crap when you google the dove outreach center and westboro baptist, maybe they retracted that crap.

I said, see you around, pillut. Until next time......when you’re calmer from the get go.
Huh. That FR link about Westboro and Pastor Terry Jones organization should be this :

I’ll let our fellow FReepers be the judge of who has been “emotional” and who has remained “calm” within this discussion. Bygones.
I apologize for hurting your feelings. You hurt mine when you used my son to attack my opinion, and unknowingly attacked him and his views in doing so.
I'm sorry I reacted the way I did (though I didn't call you any names). He's a gentle soul and would never respond in anger to you no matter what you said to him.
I, however, am a Mother Bear, and when you inadvertantly attacked him, I responded in extremis.
Again. I apologize.
Hey.
Do you know Sgt. Evan Vela Carnahan?
No. Why?
You, admittedly, made me pretty mad the other night.
There is nothing wrong with my comprehension.
And I know you don’t know Evan. Or, apparently, anything about him.
I do know the truth about Evan. I know the dirty politics of appeasement that put him in Leavenworth.
While many people here hide behind anonymity, we don’t.
We want a national stage.
But there are too many people like you.
Too many people with a blind spot.
Or maybe just lacking the guts to try to really change things.
I don’t just sit at a keyboard and write things I don’t or won’t back up in action.
And please don’t treat this as an attack. That is not my intention.
You have the right to express your opinion. I think you are wrong.
Evan is my nephew.
We have been fighting for him nonstop. We will never stop.
And thank your son for his service.
I mean that.
Perhaps your own experience has caused a sensitivity that makes you see things in the words of others that are not there, and to miss things that are there. That would be understandable under the circumstances.
On a forum such as this there's a lot of mis-reading of what is said and meant, especially when emotions are (understandably) raw.
For instance when pillut used my son against me in ignorance it also angered me at first......for a few minutes that is. Then I considered the source.....someone who was speaking in ignorance and didn't realize the weight of what he/she said on the shoulders of a mother.
There's alot of that going on around here......ignorance that is. I plead guilty of it at times, and I have been the victim of it at times as well.
I apologize for making you mad, but you did misunderstand what I was saying.
btw, no mother of a soldier 'lacks guts.' That's pretty offensive after what I've been through since 2001. And I am exactly the same person in private that I am here on this forum.
I'm sorry for your son's situation. Please provide me with your link again, and I'll read about him. And you will all be in my prayers.
I hope you get your national stage.
Excuse me.......your nephew.
My brother, Evan’s dad, said it best.
And I agree with him completely. Nothing will ever change it.
“While you have been busy winning the hearts and minds of the enemy, you have completely lost mine. Forever.”
You implied your son would physically hurt me, even though I never insulted him, or you... As the mother of three young children who is forever indebted to our military, and your son, I too apologize
if you misunderstood the points I was making; I hope they have given you some things to think about. [[Mama Grizzly bear hugs]]
As a side note, Allen West is taking up the cause of The Leavenworth Ten.
Maybe he can make some headway.
And while your at it, if you have time, read up on Pfc. David Lawrence. That young man needs all our help.
The problem I had is that my son and I share the same view about this Koran burning, and your insult to me was, in fact, an insult to him.
He is a very thoughtful, intelligent, brave, selfless hero, who after being shot at and mortared by evil Muslims, finding the mangled bodies of innocent Iraqis killed by evil Muslims, and having friends killed by evil Muslims, does not hate Muslims. Because, you see, he made friends and confidants of good Muslims (some people around here falsely believe they don't exist, but they do), with whom he trusted his life.
btw, it was silly of me to imply that he would hurt you (I was in shock at being blindsided by your post). He's a gentleman and a gentle man. That's why I should never have said what I did and apologized for it.
He'll get the job done.
Thank you for the link. I’ll read it now.
Here is David’s homepage.
