Oh that’s so terrible ..... 12.6 %??? How can they survive.....

We pay at least 50% and every year the price gets higher, so that 50% gets larger and larger! Should I jump now?

What a bunch of idiots!

Just imagine being so troubled that you want to end your own life.

Right, and just imagine that such a person is teaching Early Childhood Special Education to your children. Who do you feel sorry for now.

That wouldn’t be how they calculate it though. It wouldn’t be based on her pay, it would be based on how much the premium cost per month. So, it the premium was 1000.000 per month - she would have to kick in 12.6% of that premium and the taxpayer pays the rest.

Isn’t that how it would be calculated? I don’t think they can base health insurance on how much you make?

I wonder if Trumka and Obama are going to her funeral?

Just imagine being so troubled that you want to end your own life.

That part is sad, no matter what caused it. But the RATs and the unions both made her a martyr, and then danced on her grave for the basest of political purposes.

Considering the total disrespect they show for the death of one of their own, our snide-but-accurate remarks are small potatoes aimed mostly at her disgusting comrades. This is just the Wellstone Memorial and Rally writ small.

Yeah...maybe she misread 6% as 6x.

Perhaps some of the union's income should be used to provide money management classes to their teachers.(sarcasm)

This woman maybe was distraught, but it would seem to be from her dire financial situation that was already present in her life, a situation that made this small change seem so dramatic for her, not the change as it really was.

It also just seems so disrespectful of this woman's life that the liberals are throwing her out there publicly when this troubled woman's actions should have been left private. Now the entire country knows she had made a mess of her personal finances and life. They should have just left her alone.

Anybody who is so distraught at paying 12% instead of 6% in their insurance premiums, has much deeper emotional/mental/psychological problems than the rate increase in premium payments.
Hey, I took a $140/month hit in my insurance premium, and I'm in a union. You poor overworked underpaid teachers, Jesus called, he wants his Cross back! I though 0 admonished us to "put some skin in the game" Congratulations, looks like you all got yourselves your very own martyr.

“Distraught” over her insurance bill?

How many US citizens without a job at all are “distraught”—they have perhaps lost their homes, their cars...here this woman is distraught because her insurance goes up 6%?

Nope. Not buying.

This is another problem with unions:
Unstable teachers cannot be fired or removed from the classroom. As a consequence, they do not get the help they need and they endanger children

I feel your pain. 100% of the $800/month for a major medical policy that only kicks in after we pay the first $3500 in medical bills in a year.

18234 * .06 = 1094.04 / 12 = 91.17
18234 * .126 = 2297.48 / 12 = 191.46

So given the total amount as listed for the benefits, her actions were even more rediculous if they were in fact driven by her inceased responsibility. Then again, what do liberals know about the R word anyway?

No mention of the taxpayers who are forced to pay the other 94% of someone else's premium

So we run the numbers just so everyone knows; 71808 * .06 = 4308.88 / 12 = 359.04/Month 71808 * .126 = 9047.81 / 12 = 753.98/Month

Actually, it's going from 0.06 to 0.126 of her insurance premiums, not her salary.

Total fringe benefits = $18,234.

Let's assume that ALL of that was health insurance and subject to the budget repair bill

($18234/.94)*0.06 = $1164

($18234/.94)*0.126 = $2444

A difference of $1280 per year.

That's assuming that 100% of her fringe went towards benefits to which the employee contribution increased from 6% to 12.6% and assuming no other changes occur as a result.

The real reason the union trough feeder off’ed itself is that a passer-by saw the edumacators, thought those hogs had four legs instead of two and yelled” Souieeeeee! - and that did it.

BINGO! That's exactly what struck me about this story. The teacher's reported area of expertise was early childhood and special education, for crying out loud.

If only it were this easy, we could raise the % to 30%, and improve the gene pool.

Distraught over having to pay more for health insurance. There are some really weak people in our society. If she can’t handle such a little thing as paying more for health insurance, she is certainly not the person I would want in front of a class of impressionable students.

The lefties should be celebrating —one less mouth to feed means Wisconsin now has a smaller carbon footprint.
