"We can make assumptions on what Palin "means" all we want. That doesn't change the statement. "

Doesn't change "the statement"? You haven't even produced the exact quote. You don't even know what the statement is. Yet it doesn't stop you from commenting on it.

Surely, you mean the best natural-born American over age 35 who chooses to run.

Palin’s still gotta put up with ‘can a woman be president’ questions, so it is ridiculous to jump on her for saying ‘yes, and it’s time for one too’.

Just the thought of a woman POTUs sends them into fits...

This sounds remarkably similar to statements coming out of the White House that just the thought of a black man in the presidency is what has sent the nation into fits . . .

How ridiculous.

Calling ersatz conservative Republicans like Mitt,Newt,Huck and McCain RINOs is meaningless?

Explain.

Yeah. I kind of like the irony that about 90% of everyone is a RINO, while 10% is a true Republican. Wouldnt that mean that the 10% were the actual RINO’s?

Obama’s father was a British citizen so the allowed precedent nullifies THAT constitutional requirement.

And that makes it right?

I think we should just declare everyone a RINO, and then we wouldnt have to worry about it.

I think this was also in part a shot at the thumpers who still think a woman's place is in the home, cooking and spitting out babies.

The who?

Oh, and that will convince them.

You want to name another candidate that has been called unpresidential?

they are not being treated equally because of the attack lines used. If you pay any attention to the attacks on say Mitt they are mostly about policy issues , his flipflopping his term/actions as gov, etc...... the attacks on Palin however are more personal. she is unpresidential, lacking gravitas, ditsy, unintelligent. Nothing is debated about policies or her record. Like leaving AK with a $12 billion surplus.........

What is more “unpresidential” than being a woman? what do you really think Rove is doing when he uses this attack line? the double standard IRT to Palin has been breathtaking to behold and my contention is that the majority of that double standard is do to the fact she is a woman. Not one male governor has been accused of being unpresidential, not one has been accused of lacking gravitas, not one have been criticized for abandoning their kids....of not being a good father, of whining, of lacking intelligence, of being in it for the money, of having a ghostwriter etc.....

I would hope that conservative support for Sarah Palin has NOTHING to do with the fact that she is a woman

While right now Sarah Palin is indeed the candidate I am looking at. I agree with you 100%! I suspect that there are conservatives who support her because she is a woman. They tend to be the ones who ... well just keep an eye on the photos posted. You'll see what I mean. Rather chauvinistic.

I have a hunch that she could have been a McCain-like republican and she would still have atleast 90% of their support. The fact that she is a conservative and Tea-Party supporter and knowing that conservatism and tea partiers are very popular these days especially in FreeRepublic, that's the reason they keep reminding you that she is a conservative (not for benefit but to convince you to vote for their "girl"). I say this as a supporter of Sarah Palin and quite frankly those particular supporters are sickening.

She could share Susan Collins political views and still have their support.

It is them that are overlooking Sarah Palin's political views and what a shame. They could be gaining more support for her on the issues rather than try using her sex as tool to win the Republican nomination.

Oh yes. Let's elect a woman to be POTUS simply because "It's time".

Give the lady a little slack until you know all the facts.

I watched the entire Sarah Palin speech and Q & A and she was responding to a question, when she said it's time, but she went on to say, that she was raised so that gender wasn't considered, that the girls and guys were treated the same.

There was no hint of her wanting "special treatment" because she had bigger balls than any of the wimpy bois in the pubbie party.

Poor Hillary. Her AA (or is it “diversity?”) card got trumped by somebody with an even stronger AA card within her own party. The humanity!

I don’t like the term RINO either, it isn’t an apt description. I prefer GOP establishment, inside the beltway elites, good old boys network, elitist pigs, etc. Those terms are descriptive. It applies to supporters and politicians within the party whose main goal is to protect their goodies train and political power at the expense of our country’s freedom.

And that is why I support Sarah Palin for president because I believe she, like me, wants to chase those evil bastards out of our government.

If this were likely, wouldn’t there be a little more of a groundswell of support for Palin by now?
