Unless I’m looking at the graph incorrectly, it appears most recent readings are in the 250 - 400 range, down from a peak of 1100 at 0700 local time Wed.

http://www.jaea.go.jp/04/o-arai/Oantai_e/html/tbl_msr1h0.html

Here is a constant geiger reading for Tokyo. Very low count.

For reference, Denver generally reads in the upper 50’s cpm.

Thanks for the reply, it would be nice if all this would go away on a few days, but somehow I don't think that is very likely.

I don't think it is going to go away. But there is a big difference between the odds of dissipating 3-4 MW (.5%) of heat and 50-55 MW (7%). Note that the graph doesn't go to zero after 10 days. It just stabilizes at around .5%. You still have to cool it, but the cooling becomes much more doable.

Unit #4 fuel rod video is useful (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiXIODVlfXk ). Forward to diagram at 8:02 to see where the spent/offloaded nuclear fuel is housed in the reactor building. Expert comes on around 10:30, in case you want to skip ahead.

Right, and that seems to fit in with the events at the reactors.

I used the table since the graph was so distorted but still mis-read the time and used earlier readings.

The world is burning and where is his LEADERSHIP.

He's focused on the important stuff - like the NCAA.

Priorities, man!

Bingo!

Are you saying the building blast shattered the containment pool for the spent rods, and "the rods were uncovered" is code-word for "the rods were lying on the floor of what was left of the building - like jackstraws"?

Well, that would explain a lot - but do you have any evidence?
