I had one positive experience with a county deputy. About 2:30 AM I was on my way home from work (night shift), and out in the middle of a county road is this deputy trying to get about a dozen cows to go back through an open gate to their pasture. He wasn't having much luck. We got them all ran down the ditch to one side of the gate, I tied a tow strap to the gate and the bumper of the truck and positioned it to funnel them in, and then he ran them back toward the gate, and in they went.
He was a very nice man, and we had a very pleasant converstion afterward.
I know it is obvious to you - but he did what most any normal American would do - just as you did by helping.
I’m not trying to be a jerk - but notice - you are the only one to respond with ANYTHING. I got an earlier response - to the effect of “I’ve travelled with cops for 20 years, etc - great guys, love of country, etc etc” - and the tone was weird - like normal Americans don’t share these sentiments? - but - no example of actual action. When pressed - disappeared.
I’m sure in the big cities they have issues to deal with - but suburbia and the country? As you point out - collecting cows, and as I point out - handing out tickets to taxpayers for rolling through stop signs, or “55 in a 45” in the middle of nowhere, at a speed trap, at 2am.
