I’ve known him for 25 years What is this supposed to prove?

Plummz, you're just arguing now to argue. He's known the guy for 25 years. It means that he has a heck of a lot better idea of what makes him tick than you or I do.

If you told me you personally knew Ronald Reagan for 25 years, then I'd pay attention to what you have to say about RR more than I would someone who did not have such a relationship.

In fact, it would be helpful now to have known you for 25 years. I'd have some insight into whether you're the type of guy who likes to argue just to argue.

Hey, CS -
heard the news abt Webb last night and couldn’t be happier...agree that the M-word is old news and Allen should (hopefully) cruise.
My son ran Corey Stewart’s re-election campaign 3-4 years ago but went IT afterward and is now working in Houston, TX behind a computer.
He has decided he wants more “excitement”, wants to get back to VA and wants to get back into politics...
Do you think the Allen campaign could use him? He’s still in touch with old campaign contacts and is working that but, seeing your exchange here, thought I’d take advantage of the forum and make a query.
He’s pretty well known in VA political circles but it’s been a while...any ideas??? Gin of matginzac

Kaine has got a huge machine behind him.

You mean the huge machine that kept the Governor's Mansion in Virginia in 2009...oh...

Or the huge machine that kept the Dem majority on the Virginai congressional delegation in 2010...oh...

Or the huge machine that kept Nancy Pelosi in the speaker's chair?

Republicans are pratically begging for Kaine to be the nominee. He tried for four years to get a transportation tax increase, shut down the rest areas to prove it was needed. And when an audit was done it was found that he was sitting on billions of dollars at VDOT.

Kaine was successful in NONE of his legislative initiatives. He's been a failure at DNC.

The GOP won't have to hire someone to DO opposition research but to catalogue it all.

So which campaign are you working for? You show up here in December of 2010. Jump on this thread with multiple posts.

Who is writing your paycheck? Because I can tell you this, you’re wrong in your assessment of Kaine and of Allen.

And Ken Cuccinelli isn’t running for Senate.

There's at least one more relatively young former GOP governor besides Allen.

In Virginia? Nope.

There's former Governor Jim Gilmore who lost to former Governor Mark Warner in 2008. Gilmore is the President of Free Congress now. Then there's Kaine.

There's no other "young" former Governor out there. The only other living former Governors are Holton, Baliles, Robb and Wilder. Thinking of someone else?

I’d have him just re-up his contacts. I don’t know that the Allen team is gearing up beyond just a few consultants at this point. And, of course, Stewart is running as well...

Ok, thanks -
I have some folks I know locally so might bark up that tree, too....
As for Corey, well, there’s a story...
cheers.

I’d like to hear what the tea party of virginni thinks about allen.

One of their statewide leaders, Jamie Radtke from Richmond, is an announced candidate for the US Senate and has been embraced by the Tea Party caucus in DC.

I don't think Allen is gettting Tea Party support in the primary.

Radtke for Senate

Thanx - and he’d go to Iowa if he thought he’d like it - he’s got a job and has no prob getting another (he’s an IT whiz), it’s just boring and, being a good conservative, is getting excited about the pending possibilities for the future so wants in...
hope you dun’t git any flak frum unemploied polyticers...

That depends. There's some disagreement in some of the Tea Party ranks about supporting Radtke. They may not go for Allen, but her support from the TP is not at 100%.

His appeals to an alleged friendship don’t invalidate anything I’ve posted on this thread.

No, your posts invalidate themselves without my help.

As to an “alleged friendship,” not quite. I followed his career in the House of Delegates, volunteered for his 1993 campaign, worked in his Administration (as did my wife), volunteered for his 2000 and 2006 campaigns. And I’ve been waiting for this moment since November, 2006.

So, I speak as someone who knows the man. Knows the people who were at the event that day. Knows the story and the back story of what happened. And someone who knows how it played out in the media.

I haven’t based any of my opinions on what I read in the Washington Post.

Should you tell me that you still don’t like him, I really don’t care.

It’s not hard to get, Corin. If he doesn’t get it, it’s his loss. As in the discussion in the Calvin wars, sometimes it’s best just to move on.

IIRC, Allen at one point said he meant to say “Mohawk” about the fellow (he had a mohawk) that had been stalking him and the word just came out wrong - to yes, a more or less made up word, at least to him.

That explanation made sense to me - I don’t know if it’s true, it came from the WAPO

Great, so you have approximately zero special insight into anything. I’ve seen the guy around too. Doesn’t change what happened. He did a couple admirable things as governor and was rather undistinguished as a Senator.

Everything I’ve posted remains accurate. Your emotional investment in wishing otherwise doesn’t make it so.
