That’s funny.
But because the democrats and the media cut the legs from under W with their never ending attacks, the Mubaraks of the Middle East knew Bush did not have the domestic support to fully implement his ideas to democratize the Middle East.
Thanks for your post, gusty. The only thing I would add would be that the demonRats and the enemedia had a LOT of help from the so-called republicans, led by none other than Juan McCain!
Not only did they "cut the legs from under W" in regard to his foreign policy, but also his domestic agenda in the form of Socialist Security reform.
Most Americans now though know nothing about Egypt. This would not be held against “their” President in 2012. Americans today are interested totally in “domestic” policy and would like to see a few more “checks in the mail.”
They will cooperate to kill us, but are not going to do it in a way either group gets a leg up on the other.
In Iraq, the Sunnis killed many Shiites as well as us Infidels. They also atttacked Shiite mosques and religious events.
Tony Blair is quoted in your post, and he is one of the biggest numbskulls when it comes to understanding Muslims- along with George Bush (Religion of Peace and we worship the same God stuff)
Tony Blair said he problem with Muslims was grievances. Neither Bush nor Blair understood the problem was following the religion as written, and a will to give up their life for the prospect of an eternal reward. Between the two of them they set us Infidels back at least 5 years in recognizing the problem. But I digress this is an Egypt thread. - tom
I have lived 7 years in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and Iran, and two years in another Muslim country, Indonesia. I understand the various differences you mentioned. The Shi’a issue is not really relevant in what is happening now in Egypt. The biggest problem we face is that radical Islamic fundamentalists will hijack the ongoing Egyptian revolution the same way Khomeini hijacked the Iranian Revolution.
