It is never a surprise when polls and publicity are manipulated to hype RINOs at the expense of conservatives. It goes back at least as far as Wendell Willkie in 1940 and Thomas Dewey in 1944 and 1948. Similar crap helped sink conservative Senator Robert A. Taft in his last presidential bid in 1952, as well. By the time Nelson Rockefeller got around to cooking up polls, it was already old hat.
