'Mmmmm' meant "I am thinking", not "I'm being a smart ass" (which is how it read when I saw it this morning).
I worry about those things. :-)

State of Delaware Arson and Related Offenses (defined)
There are so many odd things that happened during that last week or so.
The TV blaring and no one going in to check on welfare?
The cabbie - I still suspect some sort of burglary/robbery ring.
The neighbors, there’s so much more about them not being said by the police or the media - their connection raise a lot of suspicions to me (dirty)
It seems when John went to the pharmacy he was ok, or the pharmacist didn’t say? So, what happened in the 40 minutes after that when a cab was called, but he disappeared and then reappeared in that disoriented state? Robbed and injured in some manner, enough to change him into what the news is trying to have us believe as demon possessed by Vietnam, PTSD, Aspergers syndrome (focusing on specific deficits to address poor communication skills, obsessive or repetitive routines, and physical clumsiness) NONE of which would allow him to be in and hold the positions he was in his entire life.
And, the number 1 suspicion in my book — The briefcase? What was in there that warranted a robbery? Or was the theft to get the briefcase because he still had $120.00 of cash on him? That’s a pretty good clue that it wasn’t a robbery as those that would do that would usually get everything of value off their victim. I wonder if he still had a ring/watch in those various videos?
Most robbers don’t take the time to dump a person into a trash dumpster etc. That is usually a message sent by the mob or others that they want people to think of the person as garbage.
Wouldn’t that make the Marinis suspect of Wheeler’s murder???
The quote I found extremely odd was the one about the TV blaring around the clock and it was “obvious no one was home.” If I knew no one was home and something so out of the ordinary happened, I do believe I would call the cops after, mmmm, maybe 24 hours?
You are right about the time from 6 to 6:40. He was fairly normal up until that point. Something happened which changed his affect. He has been described as confused and disoriented, but those that actually spoke with him said “labored, but lucid.” Regardless, the Jack Wheeler that left Happy Harry’s was not the Jack Wheeler that arrived in Wilmington. It was a physical event, not an emotional collapse.
The neighbors already have a nice home on F___ Mill. Their family is raised. Rumors of a B & B, comments made about Jack being involved in weird sex before I found the newspaper article. He very easily could have been doing research on what they were up to and some investigative reporter misinterpreted what they found.
You really got me thinking about the watch, so I went back and looked at the pictures and videos.
In this 1994 picture below, Wheeler is wearing a watch and a ring(wedding band?), both on his left hand. Notice the watch, he's wearing it right over his wrist. When you wear a watch like that, it can usually be seen even if you're wearing long sleeves or a coat.
This next picture is a blown up freeze frame screen shot from the parking garage video. I wish there was some really good high def video available, but I couldn't find any. He's holding his shoe with his left hand and I can't say for sure, but that could be a watch on his wrist.
Good catch. Someone with a photo program on their computer could save the freeze frame and zero in on that left hand.
Had always assumed they were after his phone or other technical devices he carried in the briefcase, particularly after they found the cell phone dumped in the house next door. It was dead by 5:00 PM on the 28th. If he had made it home with it, I’d say he would have put it on the charger.
What time did his train arrive at the depot? How long did it take for him to get home if he took #15 bus? Time to stop for dinner or groceries?
Was his visit to the SBA office to get duplicates of material in the briefcase?
Thanks - I wish we could get a good pic of his hand. I will check, since I finally have a day off. I’m sure you checked them all so I won’t have much luck.
I would entertain the thought of a stroke etc. except for the robbery of his briefcase and wallet - that changes everything in my opinion.
He was probably attacked in some manner (hit on the head), maybe even injected with something. But, as you say the man who left Happy Harry’s is not the man who showed up in the Lemours Bldg 40 min later.
Looking for videos - this one is with Eric Shawn and Dr Baden early on.

I'm going to try and fiddle with this in my photo account.
Of one thing we can be certain...it was a homicide. The determination was made AFTER the autopsy. The results were not pending results from the lab. The autopsy was done on the 1st and the ruling was released almost immediately.
The silence of LE and media disinterest goes well beyond what we see in the "normal" street crime (if there is such a thing). Interesing graph at google:
Number of sources covering story:

That it bottoms out after 3 days speaks volumes (IMHO)
I haven’t been able to enlarge that photo without blurring it out more to see if he has a watch or ring on.
I wonder if we have a photo buff?
Yes, seems the story died on the 6th as quickly as John Wheeler did on the 30th - very strange. Now, who would have that much power to put a muzzle on the entire media?
“Iman Goldsborough .....later recognized as John P. Wheeler wandered into the parking garage where she works on December 29 around 6:40 p.m., disheveled and carrying a shoe in one hand.....”
“’I'm not drunk, I'm not drunk,’” Goldsborough quoted Wheeler as saying.
This is where the description of “lucid, but labored” may have come from—if he was drugged, it may have taken an enormous amount of energy to focus on the present.
Could it be that they do not want to pull the wires or expose their plant until after they have the loose ends of Wheeler's murder tied up?
