Yes I worked in century city as a teen, and right outside the building where reagan s office was, a gay man sold Jelly Bellies from a little white cart. You could not find them anywhere else.

Apologize for all the errors and repeats. I blame this iPad.
Float was just on and the crowds stood in respect...
sniff - I need a tissue......
Not bad...
They told that story about the Jelly Bellies this morning on ABC. I did not know about it before!!
I saw that... did my heart good.
It was a BEAUTIFUL float.
I love the booger and vomit jelly beans but coconut, blech! B-)
We marvel, too, especially as the day is usually preceded and followed by miserable, wet weather. No matter the forecast, the clouds magically part and Pasadena appears postcard-perfect. Go figure. I think, too, your New Year's was slightly milder than ours this time. I am the original wimpette when it comes to COLD. Haha. You got me!:) Thanks for being a fan of SoCal. It's nice.
Hey, I stand corrected this year, FRiend... it WAS cold in your neck of the woods on January 1st! While I was watching the parade, I asked hubby to check the temperature in Pasadena on AccuWeather.com. Was it really about 39 degrees when the parade started?! If so, we did have a milder New Year's Day than you did... who'd a thunk it?
Unfortunately we're back to our "normal" Connecticut winter weather... it's about 20 degrees outside as I type this (with snow still on the ground). Temps tomorrow during the day should be in the mid-30s.
This year's Rose Parade was one of the best - and most patriotic - I've seen in many years... very nice! Is the person who runs/organizes the Rose Parade a conservative by any chance?
Oh, I forgot to mention how wonderful each float smells in my post upthread. I admit I never had much of an appreciation of the Rose Parade floats until I saw them up close and in person... each one is an incredible work of art, created entirely by organic materials.
Happy New Year to you, FRiend! :-)
Unfortunately we can't get KTLA here in CT, but hubby found Stephanie and Bob this year streaming the parade live online. It was so nice to hear their voices again, but I had to return to the TV as the streaming video was too tiny. I mostly watched the parade on HGTV... their commentary was so-so at best, but at least I could see the floats. Oh well...
It looks like several lefties are not fond of Bob Eubanks' "right wing" political and religious comments during the Rose Parade. Geesh...
LOL!! Subtle!
Thank you!!! I thought it was one of my better zings. :)
Yeah I saw that that typical CALI Lib
I don’t reallly pay attention to it Nutmeg
I, on the other hand, perked up my ears and was thrilled when he made a bracingly patriotic statement... that I can't remember now. Grrr...Haha. I guess I had better read the comments in the blog to refresh my memory. See, lefties are good for something!
Well, anyway, glad you caught live streaming and all that. A few years ago, Angelenos were shocked to learn Stephanie had been literally "kicked to the curb" from her usual co-anchor spot and placed down streetside for occasional reports. KTLA was pulling one of its nasty management moves and inserted their favorite new bloated morning news anchor in Steph's place. To add insult to injury, that was one of the few years that the parade was rained on.
It's nice that Steph is back but if I were her I would have told 'em to shove it.
I don't have facts in hand but, from what I can see, the Tournament of Roses organization is very patriotic, conservative and traditional... just like you and me!!:)
