I just got up but reading this made me tired.

Cute gadget, but they’re not being honest with the facts and figures. Not until they get down to extended-range mileage improvement.

That happens to me a lot. Just getting out of bed often makes me tired. (ho-hum)

Now I’m gonna get busy, but I’ll be back in about an hour. I’m going to try to get some stuff outside, under the tarp. One of these months, I need to move my stuff into a larger storage unit so I can take this stuff over there and get it out of my sight.

Later.

I’m back and out of breath. I still have a shelf to move, but when that’s done, I’ll be able to stop tripping over the foot of the “bed” on the way into the bathroom.

I’ll sit for a bit, then head to the PO and mail a package. Then work on rearranging again. I forgot to put bricks down outside so the containers aren’t on the cement, but I can do it a little later.

This is gonna really wear me out for sure. :o|

Well, maybe I’ll just wait until Monday to do the case. I could do it today, but I hate over-doing things, which I’m prone to do. When I feel “good” I want to get everything done that I felt too bad to do for so long, and that is the WORST thing I can do.

Feeling normal is no guarantee that I really am. Hah!
I also need to get the old computer out of here, as it is really taking up to much room. Maybe I’ll call Best Buy. I’m still looking for someone to retrieve the data from the old hard drive. I hate to think of losing all that genealogical information. For the 4th time.

"Cute gadget, but they’re not being honest with the facts and figures."

I agree in every particular. However, one thing I appreciate is the notion of where to place the electric motor/generator and the logic of how to integrate it. That right there is ingenious.

All the pricing I've seen is massively overpriced for the materials involved. This is the kind of project that cries out for backyard tinkerers and the corner garage. It's too bad that our current economic environment is one of predatory hunger.

All that said, I'm still thinking that a VW bug to electric conversion makes the most sense, if one can find the materials and the expertise for reasonable rates.

My old VDub had no power steering or power brakes, and its manual transmission would be an easy transition to electric power.

For real short commutes, it would make a lot of sense.

Point of advice though, as Rush discussed recently, don't take your electric vehicle out in bad weather. When you're stuck on the road in an electric, you're really stuck!

"Howdy."

Hmm. It must be "Howdy" duty time up north.

If I had the wherewithal, I would get a VW Bug in a heartbeat. But.

I’m done for the day. The barometer is dropping, and there are clouds overhead, and my back is telling me I’ve done enough for one day.

Maybe two.

I worked a little on my late aunt’s journal/personal history, and it really gets to me after a while. She used ampersands a lot and her spelling resists the efforts of SpellCheck, so I’ve just been leaving in all the mistakes with a Foreward about it.

She survived a typhoid epidemic as a child, but was left with permanent deafness in both ears, as was an older sister. My dad (the only surviving boy) was deaf in one ear because of it. We got it easy, dontchathink?

You’re probably too young to remember the “Howdy Doody Show,” but that’s what the statement was about.

You ready for some football?

Vaguely remember it. I thought it meant that... Yes ready for football. Just hope power does not go out tomorrow. Still have no favorite team. Yikes!

"We got it easy, dontchathink?"

I have always thought so.

But, as was written during the Waterloo Campaign, "All of our comforts are a study in contrasts." Just think how annoying it is, and what a deprivation, when the Internet goes out.

Our future progeny will not comprehend how we managed to survive in these savage climes, with such sporadic connections.

Looking back, I resented and resisted answering machines. I did, however, like the touch-tone phones as compared to rotary dials.

I also didn’t like the scanning devices in grocery stores. And ATMs just didn’t seem too safe! However, these days, I’m happy for cellphones; my illness precludes going anywhere without one. Computers? Well, yes, I’m dependent on mine because I spend so much time confined to home.

If there were to come a time when computers were no longer here and usable, I suspect everything else would have been rendered moot.

But that’s just me. :o]

I’ll root for the Packers tomorrow, just because they are a rough bunch of guys. Or they used to be. Looking back, it’s hard to believe I actually watched the first Super Bowl.

You should get a generator. At least then, you would have power of sorts. Lots of people I know have them, even here. “Just in case...”

Finished the cake. It looks like a fighter jet (whew!). Now I have to drain the fruit for the mixed-fruit dish.

Long day out car-shopping. Came home with an '86 Ford F250 in excellent condition --only 80k miles-- for $4k. Downside is it's so high up I have to leap into it. Poor LoM needs help up into and back out of it. Gotta get boarding ladders, I guess.

Our cars are now very American: red (Seumas Ruaraidh, or Red Jimmy), white (Ealabhan, or White Swan,) and blue (Gorm Mòr, or Big Blue). And we have separate vehicles no matter what the shop's verdict on Seumas Ruaraidh will be.
