Your post is quite accurate. The Chinese view victory over us from 2 perspectives. First and foremost, they are planning on bankrolling the collapse and replacement of the U.S. Dollar; therefore, ensuring the ascendency of China as the preeminent world power economically and the elimination of the U.S. as a threat regionally or globally to china's control. If the economic approach is slow coming China is already planning an all out war with the United States for world hegemony. This goes far beyond control of the Pacific Rim. It has been reported in some circles that the PRC leadership is planning a war strategy that has the destruction of the 5th and 7th fleet as one of its top priorities. The U.S. military needs to wrest itself from the clutches of liberal political correctness and take its proverbial head out of the sand and realize that the next big conflict will be with the Chinese, and this conflict will be over the control of choke points worldwide, i.e Panama Canal, Suez Canal, Straits of Hormuz, and Malta. The Chinese have a blue navy as well as the technology to fight a global conflict. Look for this danger to come to fruition this decade. God helps us as we have created a monster.

Given that “Rome” did not suffer blows that led to final collapse until the years before the First Crusades, and that in 1803, Napoleon was dressing himself as a Caesar, we and our influence should last so long.

It will take awhile for their blue water navy to come up to speed: The Germans never did catch with the Brits. But it is a heck of a time for us to be cutting back on our navy. Fortunately, the Japanese, the Aussies and maybe the Indians are beginning to fill in the gap.

...Major-General Jia "demanded Australia make changes to the paper or suffer the consequences"...

Civilized nations don't sputter out demands. This sounds like 1930s' Hitler. China has a long way to go, slave labor or no.
