The general did not see that part of the flight; he only saw the last minute or so. The normal displacement of the early contrail by shear winds led him to assume that the contrail shape indicated early maneuvering.

If the video had covered the trail from the time it became visible on the horizon, at the time he thought it "steered", it would have been as smooth and straight as it is in the last moments of the video. Biased assumptions make biased conclusions.

This whole "missile" thing is an exercise in wishful-thinking self-delusion -- including yours.
