I understand that, but just because they are not in one of those two major cities doesn’t mean they are conservatives.

I understand what you’re saying, but that was the deal, and the state has not funded the pension plans (why?), and IMHO, that is wrong. They had an obligation and reneged on the deal. And, don’t forget, this non-funding was when they had the money, but chose not to. The legislature and gov are to blame for using this money for other pet projects.
Sure, we cannot afford the pension plans now, but I don’t like changing the rules in the middle of the game.
My email has been full of PSEA urgent notices to get on the phone and email to my state (Pa.) reps and senators to vote on this NOW.
I’m only 6 years in,(late career change) so it doesn’t affect me too greatly, but if I were a 20-30 yr teacher I’d be royally pissed at the malfeasance of the state legislature. Where did that money go?.
I’m thinking there are going to be a lot of retirements this year.
