Mort Kondracke is a liberal at heart so he has to diss Sarah Palin. It's a basic tenet of liberalism that anyone who isn't a liberal is an idiot. This ridiculous, self-serving fantasy fuels the attacks on any non-liberal's intelligence. Because Sarah Palin is a distinct threat to the left, they reflexively insult her, usually by sneering at her intelligence. She didn't graduate from an Ivy League school, isn't an attorney and is staunchly middle class (although now wealthy) with traditional, conservative values. The left loath the 'unwashed' middle class (despite pretending to love them). Hence, they hate and fear Sarah Palin.

She's in good company. The left felt pretty much the same way about Ronald Reagan, calling him a 'washed-up actor, a joke (to think he could be president) and of course "not too bright". The rest is history. Sara Palin will do just fine without the approval of inconsequential liberals such as Mort Kondracke.
