A better way to put it: I'm outside a bar, and I pay this guy going in $100. I tell him, 'when I come in, be sure and insult me my family, and my country.'
The only difference with PBS/NPR is we do it to the tune of a half a billion.
OH yes, and thank you Michelle Malkin for publishing the NPR CEO's resume. She came from the NYT, but before that the NYT-owned Discovery (and History) Channel. So when the History Channel did that twisted US history version by closet communist Howard Zinn, and you went, WTF, now you know. These people even infect places you thought they weren't (but might have suspected). Please pass that along.
Very funny. And, the offenses are equal in importance.
NPR is run by “Shiller” so cut tax support and let them shill for money.
I agree about the Juan Williams firing, but it is interesting to see the people most upset about it are the RINOs.
Ever look up what that means? It has nothing to do with kids. BAR FIGHT!
With over 800 channels on my TV, I have to wonder why in hell are they receiving even one dime of taxpayer's money?
There is not a doubt in my mind that the inspiration for Schillers righteous indignation was the childish walk-off-the-set theatrics by Whoopie Goldberg and Joyce Behar on The View last week, in reaction to a comment about Muslims made by Bill OReilly.
I would bet anything that Schiller watched that show, tilted her head, and thought, Gee, what a really cool and morally upright thing to do! Take that, OReilly! She wanted to do something just like that so she could be cool, too, and earn some smiles and pats on the back from the liberal cocktail crowd she cavorts with.
So she walked off the set by firing Williams for the insensitive, OReilly-like comments about Muslims which... whaddaya know!... Williams made to that very same Bill OReilly on the hated Fox News channel! It was a perfect storm for Schiller, who reportedly had been looking for an excuse - - any excuse - - to dump Williams precisely because of his employment with Fox News.
She had it all figured out. ...Only it didnt quite work out the way she expected.
Schiller should be fired ASAP. What a freaking idiot. But even if (when?) that happens, it will always be clear that the liberal Juan Williams is simply not liberal enough for NPR. I agree with the previous poster who said that NPR was moving into “Stalinist territory”.
Arab money is impacting what a lot of institutions do and who they hire. The money is going into universities, non-profits and NPR. They will to nothing to piss off their big donors.
Most of thee organizations do not have disclose their contributors. I think we should make it a law that any non-profit must make contributions by none citizens public.
Otherwise they, in effect, are becoming agents of foreign governments.
I saw every rabid liberal on my musicians site say that he should not have been fired for that. NPR knows they crossed the line and this thing is not over yet.
I suspect NPR is in a fight for its reputation at the least, and possibly its life. It really is reminiscent of the Dan Rather fiasco. The internet allows us all to talk it out.
Fantastic post. I concur with everything you have said, and I don’t know how it could have been said any better than the way you put the words together.
The HALLMARK CARD post, “cared enough to say the very best”
Mahalo nui loa
I believe you, sir, have nailed it.
The only reason NPR staff and Schiller give a rat’s patootie about the public reaction is because it will affect their funding, public and private. And that, of course, will affect their employment. Otherwise who cares ?
Its time to call “THE JUSTICE BROTHERS!”
Not a problem. Sometimes getting stuff posted on FR is like playing craps.
I keep wondering about an institution called “NPR - National Public Radio” that it is a government office. It has the name and the funding that says it is. It certainly is not private.
Therefore, in terms of their INJURING Juan Williams for his words spoken on his own time BECAUSE those words bothered them/offended them:
Is that not an example of the GOVERNMENT violating FREE SPEECH of a citizen speaking on his own?
Would they not be liable for a lawsuit?
Just a question...I’m not a lawyer. Seems perilously close to me, though.
Defund these PC leftist imbeciles, this propaganda wing of the marxist controlled democrat party, not one more cent of the money the IRS extorts from us under threat of imprisonment.
Zero tolerance for marxists in US government.
Investigate and arrest members of the Progressive Congressional Caucus, send the red sons of bitches back underground.
Via Executive Order, declare all States right to work states, no more forced compulsory union dues in order to work, no more “pay your dues or be fired”
Defund the marxist trade and government worker unions.
No one will pay union dues voluntarily.
Smash the left!
Actually, watching your P's and Q's
comes from the same era and line of work as upper case
and lower case
. Before you could print a line, you had to pick the letters one at a time out of their bins and line them up in the composing stick. After a print run, you needed to take the lines of type apart and put the letters back in their proper bins. Being mirror-image, lower-case P's and Q's were extra confusing.
Guess they thought the MSM would totally cover for them - as they usually do - but there's a few dems out there with conscience - and it didn't go as well as usual.
Then wouldn't the phrase be Mind Your B's and D's? And who would you say such a thing to - one or two people in the country? Doesn't make any sense.
Here are a few of my favorites -
The drinker's tab would be kept on a chalkboard, where the barkeep would make a mark for each pint or quart that the customer drank. A dishonest pub keeper could easily take advantage of this tally system to pad his evening's income. The larger quart was more expensive than a pint, and a bartender could mark down a quart even if he had only served a pint. Customers who were not careful might end up paying for more than they actually drank. Telling someone to mind their Ps and Qs was warning them to keep an eye on their server to avoid paying for drinks they did not have.
And -
It also meant that customers should watch their alcohol intake and, in turn, their behavior. The more they drank, the less able they would be to keep tabs on what they drank, making them easy targets. Along these lines, an unruly customer might also be told to mind his Ps and Qs. Telling someone to mind their Ps and Qs was the appropriate way to tell them they had had too much to drink. It was also bartender-speak for "don't forget to pay your bill before you stumble out of here."
