Are we raising a generation of nincompoops? (yikes!)

Yeah, kinda like him. Ours is a gray and white and has it all the way around. The extras in front look like thumbs. You should see him suck his thumb.

LOL...yes. He is the weirdest cat I have ever owned. Totally odd personality, eats corn on the cob...

He had seven toes on each foot originally, and we had to have the vet take a few of them off because they were impeding his ability to walk. That was a nightmare...hilarious in an odd way, he was completely fixated on his poor toes, and we tried everything from the cone of shame (which he managed to destroy) to a onesie outfit you put on an infant (that was worth the price of admission to see us trying to get him into it!)

He drove our older cat crazy (in the pic below) hassled him and so on until our cat just disappeared. I hope the little guy found another home, but I suspect not...I think he became prey for something. Sigh. I sure do miss him...he was a great companion. I do have a thing for yellow cats...:)

"Speaking of dialing, I watched my daughters try to dial a rotary phone once. It was comical."

Ain't it the truth?!? We brought an old 1930's phone down from the attic and put it in the kitchen. The first time our sons tried to use it they were completely confused by it. It's funny what changes when you're not thinking about it. Kind of like changing the dial on the TV - kids today wouldn't have a clue about "don't change that dial!". Our sons use the dial phone now, and the younger one enjoys stumping other kids with it from time to time. We like it because it's heavy and doesn't fall off the counter as readily as the lightweight newer ones. Unfortunately it doesn't generate tones, so it has limitations too. It's only good for talking, not selecting 1 for English, 2 for Spanish . . .

“The “greatest” generation had no clue how to raise kids.”

In fairness to them, my generation has even less of a clue. The “greatest generation” bred the ones that gave us abortion on demand; mine has taken full advantage of it.

“I see that government got in the way of people’s ability to effectively parent.”

I absolutely agree with you on that; gubmint wants to be the Daddy (albeit an effeminate, ineffective one).
