Funny how our education system used to work just fine. We started school in September, got out in June, and somehow our nation landed men on the moon in the 60’s.

The problem is not the length of time students are in school, the problem is the curriculum compounded by poor teachers. The focus in primary grades should return to reading, writing and mathematics - forget about diversity and all that other crap.

Do not lengthen the day or year. They need to concentrate their lessons more. There is so much “busy work”. Why cant they just read and learn the facts and dates? Whey do they have to spend hours “creating” brochures and posters. We had one such project last week. Making the brochure was supposed to help them get ready for the test. My son knew the material for the test, but had to spend time w/ this nonsense. Of course he didn’t get a good grade on the brochure..creating is not his talent. He did get a good grade on the test. His time would have been better spent doing math problems or writing, instead of coloring and designing.s They waste a lot of time in the classrooms today.

Another problem is that generally the class moves as fast as the slowest student. In the old days, you might have one slow student and could get him special help and the class could move on.
Here in Calif. half the class is slow (doesn't speak English) and the class is paralyzed.
Our kids went to school 365 days a year. We home schooled.

We live in south San Diego County. All the schools in our school district are on a year-round calendar. Six weeks in the summer, two weeks in the fall, Christmas (ahem—winter break) and Easter (aka Spring Break). And, the schools let out early one day a week for “Staff Instruction Days”.

BINGO!
Feed them more junk food, at tax payer’s expense, so parents can spend their food stamp money on beer, lotto tickets and cigs. Check

I say “yes.” The kids may as well stay in school in the summer because the families can’t afford vacations nowadays.

School is simply taxpayer provided daycare for liberals. Many schools feed their students breakfast AND lunch with some now offering an early dinner just before the kids leave. Liberals HATE HATE HATE summer vacation. Anytime spent with the family and not with government indoctrination is a bad thing for liberals. This idea that if we somehow do a bad thing for a longer amount of time will make things better is silly. --------------------------
The middle class has been under attack by the elites for over 40 years. The education system has been intentionally dumbed down. The assault on our culture and values has eroded love of country.
Education
Our public schools are deeply entrenched with a socialist, progressive ideology.

This is just another union feather bedding scheme, and an attempt to make school just another day care indoctrination center.
