I use to live in Centerville and run by Joe Biden’s house every morning.
The politicking is pretty thick in that state because it’s a small state and the first state.
That doddering old man she bested is going to work against her to spite her.
The NRSC has already made a grave grievous mistake and I lump them in with RNC.
Don’t care. They are sister orgs and have the same bartender.
We can help Christine and hope for the best.

Perhaps, but let’s get real. Senators who have switched parties in 230 years has happened 8 times total.
But, let’s play along and flip your logic the other way. If the GOP had 49 could they convince one of the Blue Dogs to switch to the GOP? It works both ways. You gave examples of GOP switching to Dems, but there have been plenty of Dems that have switched to the GOP over the years, too. It typically only happens when you’re on the cusp and can be a power broker. If the GOP had 49, they have a much better chance of convincing a Dem to switch to an I or a R than if they had 47, when no one is going to switch.
So for all of your examples, how about the glass is half full. Ben Nighthorse Campbell switched from Dem to Republican. Richard Shelby switched from Dem to Republican. Strom Thurmond from Democrat to Republican. Ronald Reagan from Democrat to Republican (I realize he was never a Senator, but just giving you an example). Lieberman from Democrat to Independent. It goes both ways if you choose that logic, but you only presented one way.
Really, sometimes youd rather see a Dem elected than a damn RINO? Please, explain that logic to me.
Amen. Now it’s possible we’ll lose the Senate and the Congress.
We could be screwed.
It’s time for fighters to step up and cowards to step away. We will need hard, dedicated work, not whimpering defeatism. Big challenge? You bet your ass. Let’s take it on and GET THIS JOB DONE!!!
Careful Beowulf, you’re about to be called every name under the book for daring to say such things. Sad, but be prepared.
Yes, you are right. I should have left off the insult - (was not really called for). It was just my exuberance over the Tea Party influence.
I really don’t care if we don’t control the Senate this election cycle (it will happen next - 2012, anyway). I just wanted to remove those RINOs NOW. We can worry about control later - does not matter if we have control when GOP Senators decide to collaborate with the Democrats.
As long as the filibuster works, can wait for change...
Careful Beowulf, youre about to be called every name under the book for daring to say such things. Sad, but be prepared.
No kidding, but wait’ll the election and hand out the crying towel.
“Say Hello to your new Senate Majority Leader, Dick Durbin”
You may be right and you’re taking heat you don’t deserve. If I voted in DE, I might’ve changed my mind in the booth. The thought of Castle being another Jeffords probably would’ve tipped me to COD, but I can’t say for sure.
I don’t think this changes the money flow really. If Castle had won, the dims would’ve written it off and spent money elsewhere. Now they think they’ve got it in the bag, the plan is the same for the opposite reason.
Because a liberal zealot - and ALL the repubbies who have switched are liberals! - will follow his/her ideology and switch. Because they have no morals against the gain.
The former democrats who switched parties also switched because the democrats moved away from THEIR core beliefs and moved to the conservative party: the republicans.
But today, there are NO, ZERO not ANY conservative or even half-conservative democrats anywhere in the Senate so the possibility of any more democrat conversions to the repblican side are zero. The only moves are for the half-conservative liberals (like Snowe, Murkowski, Castle, Crist) who have everything to gain by following the Washington Post and becoming democrats.
>>>Were gonna take out some more RINOs. And Then a few more and Then a few more. Brace yourself
Of course the problem with the petulant crusade is the field of “RINO’s” is an ever expanding circle. Every day the purity tests become broader and broader. The hundred percenters can never be satisfied, so new enemies must be found and eliminated. And new enemies will be found, foul traitors all of course.
And then what always happens is the oh so pure turn on one another. PURGE PURGE!! Ruin and self-righteous impotence is the usual outcome. It’s an old established pattern. Crackpots aren’t a new thing.
If I had the time I’d browse back a few weeks and make a list of all the “traitors” called out recently. People and groups like Karl Rove and National Review and Ann Coulter. It might make for an interesting window into how far this place has gone over the cliff and into self-parody.
They will forget it all and say it was worth it for the “cleansing of the party”.
“Now its possible well lose the Senate and the Congress.
We could be screwed.”
Very true. It’s like College FB before overtime and we’ve decided to go for two on the last play instead of kicking the game-tying extra point. Contrary to what many are posting, if the TP doesn’t get some big wins in Nov., it’s credibility will be shot and 0bama and the dims will be back with a vengence.
“It might make for an interesting window into how far this place has gone over the cliff and into self-parody.”
I want COD to win, but I know what you’re talking about. Substitute Ned Lamont for COD and Lieberman for Castle in some of these posts and they could’ve been posted on the DailyKooks.
Cook, you think there are no conservative or Blue Dog Democrats? I’m sorry, but I disagree.
Kent Conrad from North Dakota
Lieberman (caucuses with Democrats) from CT
Bayh...who is retiring
Nelson from NE
Begich from Alaska has only a 67 rating on liberal issues (as opposed to little Dick Durbin at 100)
Hagan from NC
My advice is buckle up and get ready for the ride.
U may not like it. U may not understand it...but it’s coming
In future election cycles.
Some people are all or nothing. I’m a pragmatist and realist. We gotta take .1 over 0 when we can.
Right now, we’re doing pretty good.
Pragmatism is a valuable tool. It cuts through fanatacism and brings reality into your thinking.
Well, I hope you're right about Angle.
“Its like College FB before overtime and weve decided to go for two on the last play instead of kicking the game-tying extra point.”
I have no idea what that means but I DO know what this means,
“Contrary to what many are posting, if the TP doesnt get some big wins in Nov., its credibility will be shot and 0bama and the dims will be back with a vengence.”
and omg, I can see the gloat on O’s face already, tonight. He’s figuring all ain’t lost.
Meanwhile O’Donell is out there saying she likes Hillary and hopes she endorses her...
RINO is always better than Donk, if only because tilting the GOP into the majority affects committee chairmanships, etc., and that, in turn, can suppress the Donk agenda, derail judicial nominations, and allow the GOP to harass the Executive Branch with hearings and investigations. Put simply, it's always better to be the Majority Party.
When casting your vote, you have to remember it's not a statement of principle, but merely a political tactic.
Because Schwarzenegger was running. Ask him yourself if polls didn't show him ahead in a head-to-head race with Bustamante.
We told for years that a conservative couldn't win in New Jersey and we had to settle for RINOs like Christie Todd Whitman. Guess what? A conservative won in New Jersey.
