FrogDad and I have been in DC since Monday. We've been to The Mall twice,so far. The set is being built, including two large arches with "Restoring Honor" over them.

They were putting up scaffolding down the Mall and hanging big speakers and spots for Jumbotrons.

We took a Moonlight bus tour last night, almost everyone we spoke to was in town for the Rally. One couple, from Texas, said that almost their whole plane was bound for the rally!

Our tour guide was conservative (surprise!) and got cheers and applause for his comments.

A guard at the rally site (last night) said that if you want to be down front, you should probably plan to be there around 5 AM. We don't intend to be there that early, our transpportation (the Metro), doesn't start running until 7 on Saturdays.

Will post some pictures tonight, headed to Mount Vernon this AM and the National Archives after.

I keep hearing jets flying over - is that normal precaution for rallies?

just a quick note... three of us went down and i brought my video camera in case of trouble... we got to the new carrolton metro and the line to get in was five wide and atleast 300 yards long... just to get in the metro and buy fare tickets... we opted to drive into dc...

lincoln memorial is at 23rd street... we parked at the watergate hotel for 10 bucks all day... sweet.

walked to the memorial... couldn’t get close to the stage... packed. so we thought we’d walk down the mall a bit and then cut over to see...

world war II memorial was packed with spectators... beautiful memorial... couldn’t get close... walked to the washington monument where things opened up. this was about 10:45... lovely setting with the lincoln memorial and all the people.... 150,000 is a modest estimate... people come and go... it was blistering in the sun... lots of people in the shade off to the sides. stopped by the sharpton rally point... no one there... they wrapped up early i suppose...

9 protestors that i saw.. maybe 10... three groups... one where we came in denouncing our racists views... then a threesome of young 17 year olds that held views that conservatives voted against civil rights... they were being interviewed by someone... the camera guy was asked why he chose those three instead of the 1000s around... i asked them if mlk jr was a democrat or republican... they didn’t know. i told them to google it.

there were 10 african americans there hawking god2.com and michaelwarns.com about knowing the truth and they had signs saying the democrats started the kkk and they were very vocal but no news crews were around... hmmmmmm...

ok, not so quick a note, but a great day... glen spoke eloquently and will be taken out of context.

i will post a video sometime...
