These liberals are very high minded because they write this crap from their gated communities or academic ivy towers, with someone else footing the bill. Its up to us unwashed bigots to deal with the consequences of the policies they advocate.

However, he should have said two MILLENIA, which is the plural of millenium.

Didn't want to go there because a lot of folks don't know that "millenNium" has two letters 'n' in it. Sorry.

Yup, we’re xenophobes - not.

The Libs and Left don’t argue on fact; they can only hope to win the argument using denigration.

Punk journalism.

Mr Rutton ignores reality. Islam is a theoCRACY, not a religion. Ultimately, a theocracy falls back on subjugating. A religion falls back on convincing.

Evidence is the difference between islamic reaction to cartoons of mohammed and Christian reaction to “crucifix in urine.” Artists of the first feared for their lives; artists of the 2d were debated.

A theocracy eventually seeks to overthrow existing government and impose its “order.” A religion operates its convincing mission within many types of governments.

There is no constitutional right to overthrow our form of government through hiding behind a “religion” label when a movement is actually theocratic.

Anti-Muslim hysteria and animosity toward undocumented immigrants are grim reminders of the Nativist movement that roiled national and state politics for more than 120 years.

Sentences such as that, loaded with every cheap slur some leftist halfwit can think of, are a grim reminder of how low the left will go to try and smear conservatives, rather than engaging in rational discussion of important issues. The are scared to death of the facts, and avoid them at every opportunity.

Tim is confounding Islam with Leftwingtard BS about Islam.

It was originally formulated as a combination religion, culture, government and set of laws.

Given the conditions of life at the time it probably was rather progressive, but then they FROZE their laws about 1000 AD.

The civil and criminal code associated with Islam in the Sharia has not changed in a millenium!

I think it's quite reasonable to regulate Islam in this, or any other country, like we might regulate a foreign business ~ and at the same time simply leave the religious part untouched.

The Geneva Convention protects soldiers in uniform from being victims of inhumane treatment in war. It does not apply to groups or persons who either waged war out-of-uniform or without affiliation to a signatory country or both. Obviously, it is not irrational to demonize one’s enemies in uniform in war. But since the Muslim enemy chooses to wage war out-of-uniform and without official affiliation with any country, according to this author, it is irrational to demonize them even after they have repeatedly attacked us. They get the benefit of the doubt that a uniformed soldier from a signatory country doesn’t. What an a**hole.

Ah, yes, "nativist," the latest Left-wing meme. One thing about the exposure of JournoList is that we now see that the injection of such terms into the public discourse is quite deliberate. "Nativist." It's apparently a bad thing, or so Rutten and the rest of the little proggy chorus are starting to bleat.

Don't object to your country's enemies or you're a "nativist." Don't try to protect your laws, your culture, your borders, or you're a "nativist." Don't try to be an American or you're a "nativist," the penalty for which is outraged denunciation and stern posturing from such avatars of intellectual life as Timothy Rutten - to be perfectly honest, it's about as intimidating as threats from a five-year-old.

You are correct: Millennia (with two n’s) has been the traditional spelling. However, as with so many other words, what was once a misspelling has now become acceptable. Thus, “Millenia” now passes muster. I used to be a stickler for traditional spellings and usages, but it got to the point I was fighting a losing battle. It’s sad, really. We have become lazy, and are now accepting things we never would have even considered a couple generations ago. I’m glad you retain the traditional approach: We need more of it.

Thanks, It's often a lonely line to hold but I'm growing into the role of kindly mossback. (It's with a bit of a shock that I recently noticed that on my technical committees I'm often the oldest one there; and I have no plans for retirement soon.)

English spelling is anything but logical but I'm holding to what I've learned, at least until we get new rules. By comparison Gaelic looks complex but is extremely phonetic; learn a few simple rules and you have it. I'd like to see that, but can't get past the mainland vs Taiwan Chinese difference: the communists "simplified" the characters, and it's not clear to me how much either side can read the other's writing anymore.

There is a LOT to be said for tradition, but few are saying it.

.

Help Texas watch her borders.
Watch live on 14 cameras and report illegal alien invaders.
Night cams in operation

http://www.blueservo.net/index.php?error=nlg

Does it work? Yes.
Best time to catch them is at night.
Recently caught on cam and reported:
String of illegals running through brush with backpacks
Numerous sightings of boats crossing the river
Numerous vehicles late at night in isolated areas
IMMENSELY satisfying

Western civilization in the form of American culture, (minus the moral degeneracy of recent times such as abortion, the sexual revolution, divorce, single parenthood, etc) is worth preserving. Too many anybodies moving into a culture destroy it. This is true for those who break our laws to get in here more than even legal entrants.

It is not bigotry to object to this. It is self preservation and Western pride. It is self defense and as such is a duty to pursue our survival as a culture.
