Two separate sentences? I copied them exactly as they are in the article. He was or still is being investigated...and it is from MSNBC/Newsweek, so it is not BS. And how about this article from USA Today which mentions Hunter's suspicious connections to Cunningham and Wilkes:

How about the mention of a Federal investigation of Hunter in this NY Times article? Hmmmmmm....??? I could see your objections if I were, for example, quoting NewsMax, which states Hunter took $46,000 in campaign funds from the same contractors as Wilkes did.

That does not make it untrue and in fact makes it all the more likely it will be investigated further, it seems George Bush (whose name is now "mud" here) was behind the original investigation being dropped because he fired Carol Lam:
