The Rich is a matter of perspective. If you have two nickels to rub together, the Democrats think you're rich.
They’ve claimed they will extend the Bush tax cuts for the lower brackets.
This article makes it clear that the citizenry of any country do not want tax hikes and do not want to see budget deficits.
Therefore, the only way for a politician to actually give the people what they want is to shrink the size and scope of the government.

If the Democrats raise taxes, saying they’re doing it
“for the children”, those brilliant, smart, really really bright, intellectual, highly-educated, non-conservative, left-leaning “independents” will fall for it hook, line and sinker and vote left once again.

The Democrats are not going to try to raise taxes. They are going to do it. And they will not suffer at the polls for doing it. Why? Because after the 2008 elections,they have developed a new voting base, idiots,a/k/a as young and college students and illegals. Factor in voter fraud and intimidation at the polls, control of the courts and media. This is why, behind the scenes, the Democrats are not panicing.
Because there will NOT be enough votes to override a veto.

Unfortunately it will be perfectly legal - however, most Dems will still be around after the election and will have to think REAL HARD regarding voting for a set of policies that were SOUNDLY REJECTED in the mid-term elections just weeks ago.
