I have noticed the absence of “Go home Yankee” rallies in Seoul lately.

I hope we have intelligence assets in SK that are worth the treasure and, now, probably blood that will be paid for them.

I bet we wouldn’t do ANYTHING about it, if they became hostages. Those people are on their own, for better or for worse.

The US armed forces in Korea have always been hostages. There are only about 20,000 — a joke against 1,000,000+ North Koreans. The reason US troops are there to force the US to intervene with real numbers in order to protect them if the North Koreans ever invade. They are political insurance for the South Koreans. But the 20,000? They’re cannon fodder and every President knows it.

Karma is a strange beast indeed. Korea was way before my time, but I was unaware there was massive “ungratefulness” (as you claim) to the United States in the regard of war.
