Any sports commissioner worth a dime should realize that you don’t let an owner from another league come carpetbagging into your league.
In the case of Mr. Hicks, he built the Stars up to a Stanley Cup, then used that as “leverage” to acquire the Rangers. Since then, he’s let the Stars wither, and his performance as Rangers owner has been lackluster at best. And to top it off, he had to go and get into soccer, too.
If I were commissioner of a league, and someone wanted to “buy in” to my league, I’d do my best to make danged sure that that ownder was specifically interested in the sole and exclusive ownership of that team, and would do his utmost to ensure the success of that team, rather than collecting it for his portfolio.
Hicks is a disgrace.
to play devil’s advocate, it didn’t hurt the Bulls too much when the White Sox’ owner took them over.
Bread and circus is failing.
That’s what I was thinking. Only time they’ve had any success was when he was hands-on.
