At the beginning of his political life, Ronald Reagan was a democrat.

Yeah I saw that too. So he may be a liar. But he will be running for election this year or next. His time could be short if he doesn’t walk the walk.

Maybe not a swing of 100 seats.

Quite frankly, I could applaud a swing of 100 SENATE seats. Throw all those bums OUT!

"Note to Republicans: Whenever possible, victory parties should be held after the election, not before it." Coulter said.

Yup. Some FReepers need to be reminded of this constantly.

Even when our victory looks imminent, we have to fight as if we're 20 points behind.

She makes a very good point: Republicans (she talks about the leadership, but I think we need to extend it to ALL CONSERVATIVES, whether leaders or grass roots folks like us) need to QUIT BOASTING about “our upcoming tsunami” and START working to stop whatever communism Hussein is pushing at the moment.

We also have to work toward the election, of course—but merely TALKING about victory (I’m guilty of it too) isn’t our best course of action now.

Roughly since the Harding administration, Wall Street has overwhelmingly favored Democrats.

Pretty sure that's an exaggeration ...

It would certainly have come as a surprise to FDR.

That's one thing about Ann -- too much attitude can get annoying after a while.

Exactly.

Here's more from anncoulter.com:

"Republicans are playing the same raised-expectations game with the November elections. Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner is ludicrously predicting Republicans will pick up 100 seats in the House in November. Newt Gingrich puts the figure at an equally insane (and weirdly precise) 78. He also predicts the Cubs will win 132 games this season and six games will be rained out.

Keep it up, Republicans, and I'm going to keep naming names. I have Nexis.

For more than half a century, the average midterm pickup for the party out of power has been 24 seats." - Ann Coulter

From my understanding, the candidate that won in PA-12 is a strong conservative, what else matters?

The problem is the MONEY, MONEY MONEY! The money for reelection comes from the PARTY. So once one is elected, no matter what they say to get there, the money for them to stay there, to stay in a position that has immense benefits including a 200K pension for life, comes from the PARTY.

That's an extortion that's hard to turn down, really for any of us. That's the leverage Nancy Pelosi has.

But that is NO argument for Republicans. Rather it is argument to throw out every careerist politician, (the ones who do what's needed to keep themselves in the money and position), and in cases like this elect those who have no party connection.

Is it not obvious that we have come to the point where a third party is the only way out? That's why the Tea Party.

"the candidate that won in PA-12 is a strong conservative," that candidate is a "strong" conservative until faced with the decision between his conservative principles and losing his Washington DC elitist privileges. That backroom extortion goes on every day in Washington DC.

The American federal government which has taken over the economy and even social behavior of the population has devolved into one as corrupt as any on the planet. And it is largely due through PARTY politics. So that every established party needs to be upset.

Check the definition of overwhelmingly, she used it properly.

Now, speaking of annoying attitudes...

Nothing wrong with a little optimism to demoralize the lefties in November. Common sense Americans are ON FIRE to throw the lying, fiscally irresponsible bums out. This midterm WILL BE a bloodbath. All Dems may as well stay home.

Very true of BOTH PARTIES!

And if there are a majority of conservatives within either party or both parties, then whichever party is in power is to me irrelevant just as long as conservatives are in control.

That’s the point, of this part of the thread. Anne is focused on GOP as she should be but she should try to be more precise in referring to the Old Guard GOP, the ones that gave us McCain, the ones that expanded government, the ones that failed miserably because they dissed conservatives. Those republicans need to be purged just as badly as most dems.

In her writeup Anne mentioned she has Nexus and she has names.

Well Anne, name names. let’s Alinskyize the GOP leaders who are miserable failures and put pressure on them. Michael Steele for starters, Gingrich for another, McCain etc. Who are the names involved in losing PA-12? Why wasn’t a candidate put up that was more credible than Murtha’s Chief of Staff? Who financed the GOP candidate there? Who vetted him? Who prepared him, consulted with him, coached him? Who reviewed his advertising?

I cannot say exactly who but I can tell you the GOP leadership are a bunch of lazy good for nothings with mediocre brains. The only reason they are there is because someone put them there, meaning those with cashola. The moneyed interests have names, who are they? They are the ones we need to hound and heckle until they scream for relief.

And the relief will come when they start listening to conservatives and they get some Lee Atwater and Tom Delay types to run the war rooms.

Also, Ann early in the 2008 campaign supported Mitt Romney

So, who remembers that other than you?

Ann is right! Save the victory party & dance until after the elections. So far the Repub party is 0-2 in NY-23 and now PA-12 in supposedly a referedum on 0bozo & his spendthrift policies. Obozo is counting on short memories from the voters and if they elect demoRAT house candidates in special elections, I assum that 98% of the demoRAT seats will be preserved in Nov 2010. I think the Repubs will do good if they pick up 8-10 seats in the House and 3-4 seats in the Senate.
