Yes, a load of passengers does weigh less than a load of anthracite, but our ever-helpful government has decreed that Acela locomotives must be twice (TWICE!) the weight of the locomotives that power the bullet trains of France and Japan.
That extra required weight has got to put great stresses on Acela’s axles and wheels.
Oh, wait...
