The apocalyptic element in the thinking of the Iranian leadership does not mean that they want a nuclear war. It does make them more reckless and ready to use dire threats.
To avoid the worst, Israel must remain strong in spirit and ready to act preemptively.
While Netanyahu is PM, I think that's a safe bet. Here's an excerpt from an article earlier this year....

The third is that destiny has chosen the Netanyahus to expose and battle anti-Semitism before it reaches the point of genocide."
