Claustrophobic? The Kansas/Nebraska act was a compromise with slave states as to if two these new states would be free or slave states. Nebraska being free and Kansas being a state where slavery was legal.

Nope. That was a pre-morning coffee fat finger event. There's only one 'ing' in 'starving'. Not two. My bad.

Starving The Monkeys

I'm on my second pass through Tom Baugh's excellent book. He is uncomfortably correct in so many ways.

You know, although my background is totally Scots-Irish, I’ve ONLY thought of myself as an “American” for nearly 60 years now.

Osama bin Laden wanted to destroy America, and Hussein is carrying it out for him.

Such complacency most often leads to things far worse than National bankruptcy, it leads to places with names like, Auschwitz, Dachau, Treblinka or remore un-named gulags, places so evil that a death leading to hell are welcomed.

That's the truth of it. That phrase should be seared into all of our consciousness. That's why those of us who understand that aspect of history and human nature are prepared to sell our lives dearly. Solzhenitsyn warned us:

"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the down-stairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of a half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? After all, you knew ahead of time that those bluecaps were out at night for no good purpose. And you could be sure ahead of time that you'd be cracking the skull of a cutthroat. Or what about the Black Maria sitting out there on the street with one lonely chauffeur - what if it had been driven off of or its tires spiked? The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt."

"If .... if... We didn't love freedom enough. And even more-we had no awareness of the real situation. We spent ourselves in one unrestrained outburst in 1917, and then we hurried to submit. We submitted with pleasure! (Arthur Ransome describes a workers' meeting in Yaroslavi in 1921. Delegates sent to the workers from the Central Committee in Moscow to confer on the substance of the argument about trade unions. The representative of the opposition, Y. Larin, explained to the workers that their trade union must be their defense against the administration, that they possessed rights which they had won and upon which no one else had any right to infringe. The workers, however, were completely indifferent, simply not comprehending whom they still needed to be defended against and why they still needed any rights. When the spokesman for the Party line rebuked them for their laziness and for getting out of hand, and demanded sacrifices from them-overtime work without pay, reductions in food, military discipline in the factory administration-this aroused great elation and applause.) We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward."

The nation began with church and home schools. Then came local neighborhood schools. Then “consolidation” occurred, followed by the massive Dept. of Ed. It got progressively worse with each step. When God was kicked out, so were patriotic pride and knowledge of our founders and documents. In their place are diversity and multiculturalism, along with self-esteem priorities. I see the result of this every day. I teach college English, and I wrote better than most incoming freshmen when I was in 8th grade! I credit the emphasis on discipline and academic rigor way back then—50s and 60s.

i see violent strife not just a break up

and much will be along “what you are” lines...which will be brutal..there will be exceptions but folks know what I mean...we are already divided as such

everyone here knows what’s it’s like if your car breaks down in the “_____ part of town” already at night

multiply that

government will crack down taking ever more freedom

will responsible citizenry continue to coddle and men act like girls?

not my spwan but I can’t speak for the rest of ya

The 14th Amendment prohibits slavery by private parties but not the government.

13th Amendment, not 14th:

Section. 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Doesn't say "One man may not own another as property", it says "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude...shall exist...".

Though many (including myself) make the argument that the 16th Amendment reinstitutes it.

The federal government barely won the first time, and it is highly unlikely that today it could win a civil war or a war of secession if the sentiment for separation were widespread. In particular, the non-political officers in the army are quite conservative, and so the professional army probably would be split. As for raising an army of conscripts as Lincoln did, who would fight for Obama and his fascists? Gangbangers? Gangbangers are just targets - easy kills.

Another thing, Achilles : Take a look at the funding problems the US gov't ran into , trying to pay for the civil war of 1861-1865. Some say our financial problems ultimately started there, not with the founding of the federal reserve or Bretton Woods or going of BW or-. Who would loan DC hard currency to fund a new civil war today? If they just print USD , then they would be doing pretty much what the confederacy had to do, which was a disaster. Also, (and I realize this is the delusion to which the confederates clung till the end, thinking France or Great Britain would intervene) but why wouldn't other countries actively try to encourage a breakaway north American republic : Not because they give a damn about us, but to permanently weaken DC? Wouldn't it be delicious to leave DC with a rump USA of blue states, saddled not only with their own freely chosen socialist policies, but with the ENTIRE CURRENT DEBT OF THE USA AND THEN SOME, while the red states go about our business????

But, I don’t think that the odds are strong that any state will secede or that there will be civil war. People are too complacent. Obama is betting, and not without reason, that people will just get used to the new state of affairs and continue relishing television sports and our handouts.

I anticipate a complete collapse in the value of the USD and in the entire US economy. Obamacare will only speed along an event which is already pretty much inevitable, given our loss of manufacturing since the late 1970s, mass immigration from third world countries, astronomical levels of debt, the coming crash in social security and medicare , (Insert other horrible appending catastrophe here-there are many others) . When people are desperate, ANYTHING can happen.

No no no, if we split up, we write a new Constitution that SPECIFICALLY outlines our rights so that no sleazy piece of shit lawyer or politician can find a way to subvert the law with a loophole and deny the people their Liberties in the future. Judges will be elected and NOBODY gets a life time appointment to anything.

I agree with you : If the USA suffers another civil war, it won’t be a “nice” civil war , with pretty uniforms and men marching in orderly battalions, etc. I imagine the complete breakdown of the US economy, and the Entitled Class of the inner cities starting off the hostilities with random, mass attacks on those whom they will blame for their troubles. There will be push back...and hence more incidents...and then the equivalence of a coast to coast riot. DC will try to use force to quell the strife (really, they’d pretty much have to, right?) This could then very easily turn into a fight on the part of *several* states to break off ties with the DC government once and for all. That’s my scenario, anyway.

And you get to enjoy the velvet-fisted glove of tyranny. As long as you comply with tyranny no harm will come to you.

I’m not sure how a regional break up would work baring deportations

both the South and Texas even though conservative have large minority blocs that aren’t

it’s sure not pretty

and would make us quite vulnerable to the rogue nations

Question: "KUHNER: Will America break up?"

Response: While not impossible a breakup into multiple countries is not likely. However, there is a good chance that there will be a Social War. Returning to the question of a political breakup the pouring in of the Mexican might trigger a new nation in the American Southwest. In short, "Reconquista." The Anglo American may not have the strength to resist and would rather spend their time eating, drinking, drugging, copulating, evacuating their bowels and snoring. Time will tell.

“But their form of socialism is a socialism for the elites, and their leaders come from both parties,...”

It’s not much different than any other place socialism has been tried - the former Soviet Union and its satellites, China, et al.

The capitalist financiers in Manhattan started us into socialism about the time of the Soviet Bolshevik revolution of 1917. The big word at that time touted over and over to the masses was, “democracy,” which the Founding Fathers of this country despised. They have been a roll since then.

They finance both Leftist parties - the left-wing Leftist (aka Democrats) and the right-wing Leftists (aka Republicans). Until people wake up and smell the hot coffee of tyranny coming from both wings then it will continue to be easy for people to be herded from one party to another and back again. All the while we get played the fools and the tyrants who sit in the shadows laugh and laugh and laugh.

Sorry, I don’t belive that idiot to be someone I idolize. That’s another serious problem in this country; pop culture. We can recall dumb movie lines but not know our elected representatives.

Kuhner, by the way, has recently filled in for Michael Savage. He is very eloquent and just rattles this stuff off the top of his head (since it’s radio, maybe he’s reading, but I don’t think so).
