I know not every person there is Roman Catholic, but still.

What a tragedy! The Roman Empire once dominated the entire world. It will soon be reduced to the Muslim Empire. Europe is rapidly fading away. The US will be the next conquest.

This is unbelievably awful...and shows just how bad things have gotten.

Do we REALLY want to do this to our children and grandchildren, maybe so, judging by Italy, Japan, and many other countries?

There are ways to fix this problem (such as making the maximum age that one can live with parents 30 years, for example), but there seems no will to do that.

Obviously, it wasn't enough. You have to offer more. I'd start with a factor of 10 more. Make recent immigrants foot the bill, or say goodbye to Italian culture forever.

However, the statistics in the report show that a massive 57.8 per cent of childless households merely said they had no children out of “personal choice.” Reasons for this personal choice, the report said, include a general sense of uncertainty about the future and the inherent difficulties involved in raising children.

Do they not have children because they are hopeless about the future or are they hopeless about the future because they don't have children?

This is a heartbreaking article.

I think a lot of people just don’t want to be bothered. They look at parenthood as a big hassle without realizing the joys that come with it—that it is part of a full life. They would rather have free time, expensive cars & clothes, and exotic vacations. In short, materialism is their new G-d.
