My mother-in-law has three small rental properties (her and her late husband's parent's houses), two of which (a duplex) are inhabited by low income renters (one disabled deaf person). The other is rented by a retired couple. She is already renting to them below market because they are good renters and she is a kind person.

If she gets hit with a 3.8% tax, I can guaran-damn-tee you she will pass 100% of it along to the three renters - all three I would bet a paycheck are Obama voters (I've met and dealt with them).

If you own rental properties, be prepared to increase the rent by up to 10%. Because all those plumbers and stuff will cost more too. When you send the note to the renters, make sure you tell them this is due to “healthcare reform”.
