You forgot the barf alert on this article. I didn’t finish it but I did wonder about all that “harassment” Nidal Hassan faced, I hadn’t heard of any before now, and they didn’t describe any in this piece. In fact, I found most of what this man is quoted as saying as not believable.

The problem is: for a Muslim being AN AMERICAN always takes a backseat to being a Muslim and that is why Islam is incompatible with the American ideal and spirit.

This is especially true in Army Spec. Zachari Klawonn's case. Check out the Moroccan flag he hangs above his bunk.

I amfairly certain that German americans fought also although not in theuir own regiment. I could be mistaken on this point though

Unfortunately the individual makes up the collective and until the individual Muslim-American (note the Muslim always come first) takes a stand and loudly speaks out, condemning the actions of the collective - i.e. the terrorist acts condoned and sanctioned by Islam, they will forever be subject to these types of verbal attacks.

I'm ok with people's Right to free speech. I only mean to point out that there must be a middle ground between PC coddling and blanket condemnation. I am not soft on Islamic terrorism, and was dismayed by Bush's statement that Islam is a religion of peace. It is not.

But click on the link in my post #40. These Muslims ARE taking a stand and loudly speaking out, condemning the actions of Islamofascists. They do this at a terrible risk to their own lives. They deserve some recognition and support, imo. Just as our gov't should be supporting the Green movement in Iran (fat chance!).

Is it so difficult to understand why most non-Jihadist Muslims are intimidated from speaking out? Yet I have heard of two Mullahs of great prestige, one an Egyptian, who have unequivocally condemned the Jihadist mentality.

Yes, we ARE at war with Islam, and it IS a religious war, because they make it so. Still, over-estimating the enemy's strength, and blind hatred only weaken us in the fight.

You are not mistaken. Consider this American WWII veteran:

General Eisenhower, Commander of Allied Forces, European Theater. His name means 'Iron Striker' in German.

Americans of German background were not treated specially in WWII, mainly because they were virtually indistinguishable from any other American. Same for Americans of Italian descent, as far as I know.

As for Americans of Japanese descent, I believe they were interned as much for their own protection as for suspicions about their loyalty. But I would never try to justify the camps with barbed wire. It's pure speculation what might have happened if they had been simply left alone by the gov't. Hatred of the Japanese was so virulent at the time that it might have gotten a lot uglier than the concentration camps. (Now someone is sure to jump into this thread with that old canard about 'FDR knew in advance...')

That’s just plain wrong. When 99% of muslims support terror and death — explicitly or implicitly — then you bet your butt they are deserving of (as you term it) “blanket contempt”.

Vermin are vermin. You don’t willingly let mosquitoes and rats into your house to bite your children on the basis that 1% of them are “ok”. (Or do you? Maybe YOU do.) No, once a species of animal has reliably proven itself to be vermin you do one of two things: keep them out, or exterminate them. And Muslims have RELIABLY and CONSISTENTLY proven that their only goal is to subjugate non-Muslims — by killing non-Muslims, if need be, especially Christians and Jews. Honestly, how much more evidence of this do you require? Are you really that stupid and/or blind?

Perhaps you’d prefer that I call Islam and Muslims “cancer” instead of “vermin”. How do you treat cancer? By turning your back and avoiding treatment on the theory that 1% of the cancer cells are OK and by God they have a right to your body too? Or by removing or killing every damn one of them you can, knowing that if any are left they will use the same codes programmed into them to turn malignant again?

Muslims are a *malignancy*. Pure and simple. As long as any member of that screwed up religion draws breath, we will have trouble with them, right up until the day Jesus returns. Or don’t you believe that either?
