Early on when Sarah endorsed Rand, since he has come out with fringe comments, Sarah has not said anything further nor has anything on her agenda for any events for him.

Umm.."early on?" Palin endorsed him in February; this race between Paul and Grayson has been going on since May 2009. Not sure which "fringe comments" you're talking about (support for term limits?); but it's clearly having NO EFFECT:

Paul has led in the last six straight independent polls; four of them by double-digits and another (that for some reason wasn't listed on the Wikipedia) by eight points.

Not that I support Kokesh, but he didn't "lose the primary". He failed to make the ballot at the convention, and can still be on the primary ballot if his campaign collects and submits a paltry 1,000 signatures. Do you like to make a habit out of being wrong?

US President George W Bush has said he would like to "end" the detention centre in Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

But in an interview on German TV he says he must wait for a Supreme Court ruling on whether inmates could be tried by military or civilian courts....

"We're at war with an enemy. And obviously we've got to protect ourselves," said Mr Bush.

"I would very much like to end Guanatanamo," he went on.

"I would very much like to get people to a court."

The Supreme Court is expected to decide in June whether military tribunals can hear the cases of the detainees.

White House National Security Council spokesman Frederick Jones said Mr Bush was repeating a long-held policy that the US "has no intention of permanently detaining individuals".

In May of 2006, the President made several observations on the Guantanamo Bay detention center:

• Bush said that the detention center's operations were subject to certain questions of Constitutionality. (Which is why he was awaiting the Supreme Court's ruling on those questions).

• Bush said that the detention center's operations were never intended to be permanent, and that he hoped to end its operation as soon as pragmatically reasonable.

• However, Bush also said that it remained necessary to keep the detention center in operation at present, in order to finish interrogating and processing the suspects (to be remanded to courts or tribunals, or released, depending on the evidence against that detainee) currently being detained there.

While Rand Paul can certainly (and, I think, justifiably) be accused of "flip-flopping" on what parts of his beliefs about Gitmo he chooses to emphasize (and yes, that admittedly is "playing to the audience"); nonetheless, the sum of Rand Paul's declared position on the subject, as stated between May and November of 2009:

• That the Guantanamo Bay detention center is Constitutionally problematic...
• That it should be closed down as soon as reasonably possible, with the detainees either released if appropriate or remanded to courts and/or military tribunals (Rand himself favors military tribunals)...
• But that its continued operation is necessary at the present time, to finish questioning and (where necessary) bringing charges against the suspects now detained...

These are statements which are not substantially different from the concerns and policy intentions regarding Guantanamo Bay which were expressed by President Bush himself, in his May 2006 interview on this very subject. Rand Paul has (blatantly) changed his emphases in response to Grayson's attacks on the subject, but he's hardly "off the reservation" in having expressed reservations which echo those of President Bush himself!
