Yep. It’s one of my 48 Liberal Lies, but in a nutshell, the tax cuts caused government revenue to rise by 40%. Government SPENDING rose 100% in Reagan’s 8 years. So the Libs’ fallback is, well, this was all RR’s military spending. Nope. The Federal Budget shows that military spending grew by 15% in the Reagan years. Social spending and transfers grew by about 35%. All we had to do was hold spending constant and the tax cuts alone would have gotten us into surplus.

“she is appalled at the number of students who believe that fetal development mirrors evolutionary development, for example. Something that had been debunked years ago and is still being taught as fact in science.”

Not only was it debunked but it was proven to be a FRAUD. And they are still perpetrating the fraud today!

Yeah, that’s kinda what I thought. The Limbaugh thing of, “Tax cuts INCREASE revenue.”

I have to pick through this, “Dictionary,” a little more when I get home from work tonight.

Thank you.

How old are your children if you don’t mind?
Until this post I was under the impression that you had older and maybe grown children. I don’t know why I thought that.

That scripture makes me sad. How could you forget/fail to tell your children of the mighty works of the Lord?

I am not sure I have ever run across you in a thread so forgive my ignorance. Are you a historian? If so what books would you recommend for homeschool reading. I am very satisfied with our world history text but would like some reading for American history.

Just because you love them that doesn’t make your tagline untrue. I am a woman and I can admit the truth! :)

Actually, there was one time (out of four) when tax cuts did not increase total revenue, in the Harding/Coolidge/Mellon cuts of 1921-26, but they all controlled government spending and we ran a surplus every single year of their administrations.

I just got my Sons to bed, and can type a bit more with the book in hand. Here’s what they say about Reagan:

During his administration, he set out to strengthen military defense. He tried to stop inflation and improve business growth by instituting supply-side economics which called for cutting taxes and government programs, but resulted in high budget defecits.

Well, that’s better than most. It’s 99% true. If they’d stopped it before the deficits part, it would be fine. I wonder what they’re doing to do with those deficit passages after Zero?
