It may be a dumb article, but I think The Pacific is going to be the greatest thing on tv since Band of Brothers. I can't wait to see Basilone on Guadalcanal (episode 2). Actually, the whole series should totally rock.

Just saw this at the market and had to suppress the gag reflex. What an f’in joke! Hanks is such an overblown, overrated jackass. There he is on the cover of Time with that constipated look on his face that he has in every movie he does and that people take for good acting, and there is that ridiculous caption about his “rewriting history.” Good god, have we really sunk that low?

Correction, the “Historian in chief” is what triggered severe nausea. Gee, forget about all the scholars and people who actually study history, and trust it to a Hollywood moron!

You are so right! “Big” was his last sane moment, then he became the serious ac-tor. What a schmuck! His best moments as an actor were as Kip Wilson in “Bosom Buddies.” The moment he took himself seriously, it was all over. I just can’t stand him or his overrated movies. And he always has that look on his face in his movies (and now in life, I guess, judging from the Time cover) like he hasn’t taken a dump in 6 months.
