Free Republic’s gone. When someone like Medina can’t even get into the runoff in place like Texas (barely 20% of Republican primary vote), you can (almost) forget someone like Palin making national. Well, many of the Tories in England say that conservatism was pushed to the side when socialized medicine was enacted. The argument became more of an argument between Big Government and Bigger Government. Maybe in reality we lost that battle along time ago. Until this problem really hit its precipice, even the GOP politicized entitlements and wouldn't dare reduce Social Security benefits if it meant angering the elderly electorate. Hell, all the GOP did was pander to the elderly by enacting Medicaid.

The article doesn’t even mention the biggest entitlement, which is the oldest and biggest transfer of wealth and still growing; socialized schooling. You think Socialized Security is a sacred cow, just try to take away socialized schooling and return to the capitalist system the country started with.
